My oldest son, now 18, had slight hearing loss in one ear from repeated childhood ear infections, that is now significant hearing loss in that ear. They have now scheduled an MRI and CT to see what might have caused this almost total hearing loss in that ear. Do those tests seem normal and what might they show?

Short of exploritory surgery an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) CT scan (Computer Togographic Scan) are the only way to see inside the human body. I would suspect that the tests will show that he has had damage to the three midle ear bones or to the inner eaqr due to these infections. Hope this helps.
