Walking in Walmart.....*** is dragging. I've always loved Christmas. But the kids are grown but living home. No surprises
expected. Just buy this or fetch that. This just sucks. But what do I really want? I want to give! I want to give to some kids whose parents find them in a place that they won't be buying much. But to a kid who needs a smile, 10 bucks is a million.
Someone is hungrey or alone on Christmas....a visit like that is a treasure. I always worked with and had kids...I loved them. I always worked helping people.......I loved it. But things happen
and force us to "retire" from the things we love. I know my way back for heavens sake, I couched 13 year old girls playing softball during the times that the Little Leauge suggested playing
in the back of the feild (that didn't last long). But I need a quick fix.
I need a few people who need what I can likely give. Totally private.....just a chance to hold my head up and smile.....I'm here
Dan
Don't know what'll come of this

I think it's great you have such a giving heart...we need more people like you!

Maybe you could put together some little Christmas goodie bags and hand them out to kids that are in the hospital. We did this around Easter and handed out little treats. The kids just loved it and seeing them smile is an indescribable feeling.

Just an idea..hope you and your family have a merry Christmas :-)

One idea is to go to a children's home and get a list of all the kids and then take that list and ask your friends or coworkers to all get some child one gift. Then you could if you like also provide one family a Christmas dinner.

When I worked at Microsoft I got our department to all sponsor one family of five and we really gave them a magical Christmas. I can not speak for everyone in our department it really helped me and I lost my second parent that year. I was very involved I did shopping, I got a local McDonald's to provide (5) $5.00 gift certificates, I got a local Grocery store to donate a holiday meat and cheese tray and we provided a turkey and all the trimmings as well. The I got to help shop for gifts for the kids and I had such a glorious Christmas that year. I wish I could do this again but I am now disabled.

But yes you can beat the Christmas blues and make a huge differance in a families life, yes we even provided a disposable camera and paid for a double set of prints,so we all shared in the kids smiles after christmas and also got lovely thank you notes for all the kids.

My boys and I participate in a program here called "letter's to santa' run by the Chicago Sun-times. It's a great way to help kids who really need it. We also help out with Toys for Tots and volunteer a lot. There are plenty of ways to give during the Holidays and throughout the year, just gotta find out how. It really does take the blah out of the commercialism of the Holidays. I believe most post offices have letters to santa programs also.

well i know that if you contact some shelters in your area that deal with giving. Like Meal on Wheels or something like that they would gladly take donations or something that yuo could give to someone to make there day. I'm glad you feel this way we need more people like you and this world would be a better place. Merry Christmas

Christmas was designed to re-focus pagan celebrations toward Christianity. Then came along all the commercialism. Don't expect anything out of the season that others are saying you should. It's just another day. I plan to golf on Christmas eve/day.
