to defend Tiawan & S. Korea if they were invaded next week?

I think the only option for the US defense of South Korea & Taiwan would be nukes.

Unfortunately we would not be able to handle both of those situations at the same time. I was stationed in S. Korea and our bases there would only be a speed bump for the N. Koreans our only possible solution would be our bases in Japan. As for China invading Taiwan I don't think we could help them either especially if this all happens at the same time.

China would take Taiwan. We might put on some show of force but we have too little in that area to make much difference unless the Chinese did a lot to telegraph their invasion. As it is now, they have no need for such an attack. They are making too many US dollars to interfere with that.
The North Koreans would make a big push and then be pushed back unless the Chinese also supported that invasion while going across to Taiwan.

USA and the world could hit china where it hurts the most with out moving troops for combat
stop buying chinese built goods and terminate any trade with china china depends on the world for growth stop feeding its the worlds economic ties it will do what you want it to do out of hunger its will hurt a bit but u always gotta lose somethin to gain somethin else
south korean could easily take out the north if nukes arent involved if nuke are decided to be involved north korea will have just signed itself a death sentence

i take the guy who was stationed in koreas word for our readiness in that senario, but im pretty sure we could help tiawan out to some extent with our air force and navy, mabey even get in some troops from a MEU (Marine Expiditonary Unit)

a million. China has ICBMs and hundreds of nuclear warheads. Invasion of any u . s . with nukes (France, China, Pakistan, India, US, Russia, Israel, Britain) potential nuclear conflict. no person on earth is stupid adequate to try this. 2. there's no 2. because of the fact nukes avert the different steps from going on.

I doubt the U.S. plans a conventional war with China. China already stated that they have no plans to use a conventional war against the U.S. It would be all nukes.

I highly doubt that we would be able to help in that situation, although I think that the US would try to help and were already too stretched out !!

conventionally, i dont think so were already HELLA stretched out in afghanistan and iraq but nuclear....unfortunately maybe...
