no, id call her big for her age

My daughter is 13 and weighs 83 pounds what I wouldn't give for her to weigh what your child does but because of a progressive terminal illness she never will. Does it matter if she is "fat" what matters is that she is healthy besides kids at that age often start to lose the "baby fat". What I call fat is my 6 yr old stepdaughter that is 78 pounds because her mother feeds her nothing but fast foods, junk foods, and fried foods. Be grateful she's healthy that is all that should matter. 5'3 and 113 pounds is not fat at all!

Is she healthy? Doing some form of physical activity each day? Are you providing her with healthy meals? If you answered yes to these questions, then she is perfectly healthy. Stop worrying about whether she's fat before you give the girl a complex and then have to come on here and ask about eating disorders!!! I wonder what the hell is wrong with some of you parents. Our kids have enough to worry about without their parents trying to make them look like Nicole Ritchie. Leave that girl alone, she's healthy and proportioned appropriately for her height!

According to the body mass index, she is a 20 for her height and weight which means she is within the normal range. In other words, she is not fat.

It's unfortunate we live in a society that is completely obsessed with weight. If you have not seen Phat Girlz, please see it. It stresses about how culture views body images. Some cultures do look at weight as a measure of status and wealth while in our culture it definitely measures one's beauty. Although obessity do hinder good health, it also hinders good self esteem in a culture that readily rejects the full figure person.

She is not fat at all, but 5'3 does seem a bit tall for her age. I have a friend who is 5'2 weighs about 125, and she does not look fat in the least bit.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=dl7wpylad5e... Your daughter is anything but fat. At this age children start to gain their height and lose the baby fat. Once the summer rolls around and she starts to become more active she will be absolutely lovely. All girls are built differently and at one time, size 14 was considered the best to be. In fact that was Marilyn Monroe's size. Please watch this video and maybe you will understand how important it is to NEVER criticize a young girl's weight as this can end up being a death sentence.

NO!!! WHY would you insult her by calling her fat? Do you have any idea about how emotionally damaging that would be to a girl if her own MOTHER called her fat?

Grow up woman, no loving mother would ever call her daughter fat.

My goodness, my daughter is 4 and as her daddy, I'd never call her fat.

uh....no...why would you call her fat? in this day and age are you trying to create an anorexic or bulimic child? if you are concerned about her weight, buy healthy foods and snacks for the whole family. it won't be a punishment for anybody, it'll help you all live longer and healthier...
good luck!
PS make sure you tell your daughter how beautiful she is and how much you love her. chances are if you're thinking she's fat, she's feeling it...
