Think about it. It takes two people to have sex. If a man is having sex with a woman, the woman is having sex too. They're both involved in the same thing.

Why then do some women think that they have to hold out on sex or trade it for something else? Can it not be good in its own right?

I am sure there is a much more involved answer to this question, but the general answer is that the guilt around females having sex is socially constructed. In other parts of the world and in other points in time, it was more than okay (in fact, encouraged) for females to have and enjoy sexual intercourse.

Back in Victorian times, it was believed that women a) did not have sexual desire and b) could not reach orgasm. Even doctors at the time told their patients this. Unfortunately, this type of thinking carried on into more modern times even when we learned the truth. That, combined with the fact that it was seen as a "sin".

I would say a lot of it also has to do with how North America changed after WWII. The idea of a solid family and marriage became the ideal (think of the TV show Leave it to Beaver). So, premarital sex among adolescents was looked down upon, and the female was given the role of "sexual gatekeeper", responsible for saying "no" to the male. This "job" was reinforced by things that parents taught their children as well as what was taught in schools.

So basically, the reason why female sexuality isn't 100% free in the modern day is more or less because of negative/ignorant/conservative ideas of the past that have stayed with us in some form or another.

They like sex more than we do, I think. You sound like the type of guy that might like the book called "If Men Have All the Power, How Come Women Make the Rules?" It's very informative about double standards like that, but it's also very funny. It's free too. Download it here if you're interested: http://www.rulymob.com/

Oh yeah . . . I think some of the readers of the question take it that you mean that women believe sex is too special or something. That is not the case. I just wanted to point out that they think they're doing men a favor when they have sex, or they act like men are the only ones getting something out of it. But to that other point, people in general do not take sex seriously enough.

Good night!

Because that IS the way it feels to a woman. Most women do not give sex without giving a piece of their heart.

If men were up front and said I want booty, NOT a relationship there would be a lot less sex going on, and women would be a lot less confused.

I do agree with you in a way.Women think about having sex differently than men.Even though it takes two to have it,it is a quest for guys. For women it is and should be a precious event.
If they don't think of it like that, there would be a lot of unwanted pregnancies, being labeled as a whore, easy,or what ever other name that is unfitting for a woman. Not to mention the deceases that are going around, that are usually passed from men to women. No it is not right for them to play hole out or trading games with it.But it is there's.It is also not right for men to expect for women to give it up when ever men want it.They know that men will do almost anything to get it.They also know that by playing these games, they can get almost any man to do anything that they want them to do.For (some) women,it is just sex.For others it is a gift worth holding on to until the day that they are ready to share it with someone.Did you see Lord Of The Rings, where Smeegle called the ring,my precious?Well, that is how most women feel about what they have.It is mine, and it is precious to me.

Because that's the way society is. A woman is suppose to be classy and not have sex until she's enagaged or married, while A man can have sex on the first date. A man who has sex right away is seen as "The Man" while a woman is called a whore.

Just an opinion but I think that is because men generally are more likely to just want to have sex and leave it at that. While women can be left with a child and generally consider sex more of an intimate act than men do.

First of all sex is suppose to be held until after marriage that just doesn't happen today. Women are not taught they are giving something away girls are taught this and it carries over into womanhood

Probably because men seem to want sex about ten times as often and ten times as much as women do. I mean, you rarely if ever see women paying for sex...but men are perfectly willing to do so! And when's the last time you picked up a "men gone wild" DVD?

The fact is, men want sex more than women. So women are able to see it as doing them a favor - and most men would be happy to agree.

Think about it: "Honey, if you do the dishes I'll (blank) your (blank) while wearing a cheerleader outfit!" What would YOUR response be?

Because they are giving something away. Sex for women is very different than it is with men. It is not just physical for them.

The sooner you accept that men and women think differently and accept the difference the more ahead and better off you will be.

Why do I see so many girls acting as though guys don't also lose their virginity? I was aproached by a girl in high school, invited to her house where she made her move on me and took MY virginity and it DID effect me emotionaly in a BIG way! I still wish I could go back in time and tell her NO!
