Go to the local clinic. You'll be prescribed eye drops. Use them faithfully. The infection should clear in almost 24 hours. Use the drops for at least a week....pink eye or not.
Also...wash all pillow cases and anything you may have lain your face on. This includes shirts and sweatshirts if we're talking a kid whose been wiping his/her eye with a shirtsleeve. This is very contagious. Be careful.

It's an infection. Sometimes when it's a bad cold, the mucus comes out through the eyes. However, this could turn into pink eye. The lower lids are really red when you pull them down and look. Sometimes there is no discharge at all. The best way to know is to see a doctor. BUT, there is NO home remedy for it.

I don't have a home remedy for pink eye, but I can tell you it is highly contagious. Every time you touch your eye and then something else the virus transfers. It can even spread from one eye to the other by rubbing it. Wash your hands a lot, and keep track of what you touch.
