Any excersizing tips for this? Or excersizes to help my vertical jump?

I'm a digger on my volleyball team.
I do wall sits. Those help extremly well!
Do 5 walls sits for 2 minutes each and then increase the minutes every other day. It works, believe me! I started out doing wall sits with my legs shaking so much after just 30 seconds.
Now, I can hold a wall sit for at least 10-15 minutes. My thighs are all muscle now.
TRY IT!

P.S. i'm hoping you know what a wall sit is since you're on a traveling team but if you don't go to google.com and look them up! :)

Good luck!

Heh, I'm practically in the same position as you except I'm going to be the new percussion section leader. I'm going into 11th, and this past 10th grade year I got on really good terms with the band director. The percussion was lacking (with only 7 people, the band only has 30-ish total) so he was depending on me to play. I delivered and in return he pretty much put me in charge of the concert band percussion. Pretty nice deal for me. You see, in my school the percussion seems to either make or break the band. We have really good drummers, but we all like to do other things on the side and marching isn't at the top of the list. I like concert band (been in it since 6th grade) and I'd like to join jazz band this year, but I don't want to be in a third performing group. Granted, I got REALLY good because I participated in marching band last October and we were in the top 20 group 1 bands on the East Coast, but now that the section leader graduated (and he was the reason the band was still holding up) I don't know if I'll do it again this year. I'll give you some advice though, performance goes down when you are not motivated to play. And as another person mentioned, if you haven't liked marching for two years, you've pretty much made up your mind. If marching band just seems like something that takes up space in your schedule (especially if you already play the clarinet in all these other performing groups) and prevents you from spending time improving stuff, like your swimming,it's not worth it. It negatively effects the things you like to do, and that is not good. If you make the decision to back out, let him know ASAP so he has some warning, and explain to him why it isn't working. He'll be disappointed but that's better than slowly trying to duck out mid-season or being miserable the entire time. And if you already play in some other ensemble at your school, let him know that if he needs you to be there for that, you'll cover it.

I have the same problem!! I started trying to improve my leg muscles, maybe 3 weeks ago?? I do jump boxes, wall jumps, leg presses, and jump roping. I've had quite a bit of improvement in the last couple weeks, too. Good luck!

ok! All you have to do is run and stretch a couple days a week! In between your run days go for a walk! Then at practice make sure to use your legs a lot either: running, jumping(this helps a lot!), or squatting to pass! Good luck!

I played Volleyball in College. I did a lot of squats, lunges, and calf exercises.
For cardio I did elliptical or stair master on a high intensity.
Good luck!

Nothing builds leg muscles better than cycling and hiking up and steep inclines. Good for the butt, too.
