I make mine cakey on purpose. I add a touch of extra flour to mine to get a more "cakey" consistency. I also make sure I mix in the eggs one at a time. This makes a big difference. And I take mine out of the oven before they get brown. Sometimes they don't appear to be done because they are so light but I let them cool and they turn out perfect. I've actually had people call my house requesting a batch of my chocolate chip cookies. They seem to prefer them cakey.

i am thinking that you mean a fluffy almost cake like cookie, if so extra baking soda or powder [which ever you recipe is calling for] maybe 1/2 tsp extra. you will have to test. my favorite for cake like cookies[ very soft] came from "jiffy" the little 8 oz boxes sold in the stores for about 30 cents. i have two recipe booklets that they sent to me for free many years ago with the cookie recipe. just checked the box and they now have a web site, www.jiffymix.com maybe they will send you some recipes, try the spoon bread casserole, its great. contact me if you cant get the recipe, good luck. sue

I'm pretty sure it's mixing the batter too much, the more you mix it the more air gets in.
