"I drive by the homeless sleeping on a cold dark street
Like bodies in an open grave
Underneath the broken old neon sign
That used to read jesus saves

A mile away live the rich folks
And I see how theyre living it up
While the poor they eat from hand to mouth
The rich is drinkin from a golden cup"

Do you reallly think that Brett Michaels is poor himself? I doubt it. If he wants to believe in something, it should be charity, and it begins at HOME.

Since this question is in the religion section and there is reference to Jesus saves, I presume you have some Christian concern about the poor.
We are admonished to care for those in need as though we were caring for God Himself. The Bible says the issue of caring for others will be addressed at the final accounting. That being the case, all I can do is what I should do. The rest will take care of itself.

Some people have mental problems.
Some people have drug, alcohol and addiction problems.
Some people drop out of society and have financial problems.
Some people just don't have much to offer society to get work.
Some people have had a sting of bad luck.
Some people have made poor choices.

Some people think the government should do something.
Some poeple try but are overwhelmed by the resources required.
Some people just don't care.
Some people care but don't know what to do about it.
Some people care but put their energy to other uses.

All kinds of reasons.

So what are you doing about it?
Get out there and help them!
Not after supper.

They are often persons that suffer from addictions. There are many shelters for them but they choose to stay in the streets. Sadly it is their addiction that makes them feel depressed deprived and often worthless. I have seen them in our area, grabbing food out of trash cans, when food for them is available in shelters and at churches.
when given money to buy their lunch it is spent on alcohol or other addictive substance, and some I have been told have mental diseases All the help available from organizations philanthropist, and Churches, does not seem to help solve their problems. We pray that they will be reached and helped.

It depends on your definition of 'win'. The American society is extremely materialisitic so you tend to view everything that way. What is real success and how do you achieve it is the real question?

Even the ones you think are winning are every bit as miserable as the rest of us. So they're losers too.

This is what puzzles every one.If god is omnipowerful, all knowing ,just why this discrimination? No one can answer.
This take us to the conviction that god is not responsible evolution, the natural process.
