I recently adopted a 6 year old Min Pin. The shiftless former owners had her for 6 years yet in all the time did not manage to potty train her or even teach her to walk properly on a leash! They told me that she was wee wee pad trained. She will pee on a wee wee pad, sure. But she will not poo on them. Instead she drops her steaming turds at random throughout my apartment

I tried crate training her but she screamed and whined and barked so loud in the crate that I had to either lose my apartment or stop crating her.

I take her out 3 times a day, after meals.

Any tips?

The steaming turds are really getting me down.

My other dog, only 1 year old, does her business outside or in a pinch, will poo onto a wee wee pad.

Also this new adopted dog seems to be dropping an awful lot of logs. She'll dump several turds outside in the street and yet still drop them throughout my apartment.

Oooohhhh. That's a tough one. I personally would keep crating her. That's what we had to do for my dogs, I know the barking and crying can get annoying, but eventually she'll get used to it, and if you let her sleep in the crate, it will become her bed and she won't want to crap there. Otherwise, I would also say that when she goes crap in the house, you have to punish her. I hate to say it. Eventually she'll get the picture. And you're doing good with letting her out 3 times a day, she'll get used to the schedule. Also if she's crapping a lot, you may want to cut back on how much you're feeding her. Not a whole lot though, enough for her to eat and be full, but not over-full. That's assuming she eats only once a day and doesn't eat throughout the day. One of my dog eats it all at once and the other snacks throughout the day....It's so annoying. But anyway, good luck and I hope everything works out for you. Happy holidays.

Unfortunately, she needs to be crate trained in order to potty train her, especially at her age. Maybe you can take her somewhere to leave her for awhile in her crate. Let her scream and bark, but do not let her out until after she has been quiet for awhile. (The first couple of times, it may take awhile, but she'll figure it out.) If that isn't an option, you can keep a spray bottle of water near the crate and when she starts to throw a fit, tell her "ssshhhh" or "quit" and give her a little squirt in the face. Again, it may take a lot of squirts the first few times. Sometimes, with really bad dogs, we'll use a 50-50 mix of water and vinegar. This will not hurt the dog, even if it gets in their eyes. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Once again small very tiny dog rules the house and owners let it do as it pleases.
The dog is very spoiled and you have a real project to re-train this dog.
Crate training would be good but since she screams so much (and min pins are horrible screamers) that may not be the best answer.
Can you put up one of those pressure baby gates to keep her in one room like the kitchen or bathroom at least that would confine the mess.
If she messes in the house correct her and let her know that this is not going to be tolerated by you in your house. You may need to swat her a few times to get your point across. Get firm with her and let her know this is wrong and there are going to be penelties for messing in the house.
Tiny toy breeds are the hardest dogs to housebreak and people have many problems getting the job done.
Good luck.

Do NOT rub her nostril in it and scold her. Contrary to preferred perception, this doesn't train a puppy that peeing at the flooring is dangerous. It teaches a puppy that the odor of pee is dangerous. Which can emerge as in very problematic mental disorders. The crate (cage) is find out how to move. In some way, two yr-olds are less difficult to potty-teach than two month-olds for the reason that they may be able to truthfully keep their bladders for a couple of and a part hours. You don't need to take her out each and every 2 hours anymore. She will have to be crated each time you are not able to supervise her - this entails at night time - for the reason that everytime she will get away with peeing at the flooring is a lesson that peeing within is ok. Put a filled Kong or Nylabone in her crate to maintain her occupied and to support that the crate is a confident situation.
