I think it limits students ability overall cuz all u gotta do is do what is necessary to get ahead and not develop a creative mind. AND the teachers we become more slack as the days go by because of the same reason. However, every now and then you get that teacher who teaches you more than what is necessary and helps you with life. What are some of yall's viewpoints?

Wow! Proof read the question and you should have your answer. I am all for a standard of quality in education, but not as I have seen of late. Presently the educational gurus are spending twelve years to train students to take one exit exam, and are failing miserably. The inclusion of philosophical programs rather than academic may be a contibutor to the shortfall of the system. As a support of this...modern high school students were tested with exams taken from elementary school lesson plans and were thuroughly embarrassed to find out that the tests were from the 1860's. Hilarious. A fear of standards and disappointing the kiddies has gotten out of hand. Instead of teaching Timmy to pass his exams...let's make the test easier. The following year, the tests get easier and easier until the teaching profession (barring a few exceptions) is too weak to teach. Exploring cultural awareness will not help you read a job application or balance a checkbook. That is best left to collegiate anthropology. Teach the kids to read, calculate (without the magic buttons), and how to write. The results would be remarkable. And leave Mao's 'Little Red Book' in the teachers' lounge.
