I have this friend (she's a girl.) She's funny, but her jokes are always raw, dirty, and explicit.

She cares more about making fun of the kids at our school with problems like Down's Syndrome instead of her homework.

She makes racial and religious jokes all the time.

Then, one day I told her I was an atheist (indirectly).

She looked at me (she's christian) and told me I was a peice of **** and that I would burn in hell for sure.

She doesn't talk to me anymore.

What kind of a friend is she!?!? Why does religion have to do with anything!?!?

And more importantly, isn't christinanity all about being kind and tolerant of your peers?!?!?!

Christianity isn't about being good. It's about getting away with being bad. It's just that simple. Your arrogant friend can do all the wicked stuff she wants and then say a few magic words and be forgiven. You do the same stuff and roast in hell for eternity. No, it's not fair but that's just the way it is.

She's not a friend! Maybe she isn't a true Christian? Yes, christianity is about being tolerant, but it doesn't seem she has seen into the religion!

She is not a very good friend, nor a very good Christian. It's a shame she doesn't see the hypocrisy of her behavior. As with any group of people, you can't judge the group by the actions of one person. Clearly she does not represent all Christians.

A sin is something everyone does you know. It's not like only 1-4 people do it. Your friend must do alot of stuff that isn't christlike but haven't you? We all have sinned and come short to the glory of God. Lets not forget that.

she's a very bad example of a christian.

if hell exists, then wouldn't a person who syas that they're a christian but doesn't have love or compassion would have a better chance of ending up there than an atheist who has those qualities.

i'm so sorry that she is the only example you have of a christian.
you are right, the two greatest comandments of the Bible are love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.
not all christians are like that.
you seem like a kind, generous, and loving person, but there was one thing that you misunderstand:
according to man, there are different sins that are worse than others. for example, killing someone is taken much more seriously in court than stealing is. that's not how it is with God. he sees us all equally. he says that sin is sin, and killing someone is just as bad as gossiping is. Your friend may be mean, rude, and hypocritical, but in God's eyes, her sins are no worse than yours, and vice versa.

i can see you are searching, and i hope you continue. i will be praying for you, and for your friend.

go in christ.

I know, SOME(not all) Christians are the biggest hypocrites on this Earth, and think all they have to do is ask for forgiveness for every mistake they have made, and then just go about making those same mistakes again!

some people confess to be Christan's, but the fruit of their lives prove otherwise. they are really bringing reproach upon the Lord when they do that. like some of the other answers I think that is hypocritical.

So what makes you think she is a Christian? That doesn't sound christian at all to me.
No, Christianity is not all about being tolerant, it is about being righteous and believing. Christ never advocated being tolerant of evil.

Well please dont use her and try to generalize all of us, cus trust me we are not all like that and definately that is NOT the way we are suppose to be at all. And as far as christian friends being worse than sinners its cus when you have an experience with Christ and learn of Him, you have to run faaar to sin, like regular sinners are jus living their everyday lives, but christians have to like try to sin so they go overboard with it all.
