Do you think about certain things that you think nobody else thinks about?

Question

Sorry if I'm not making sense, I know it's a confusing question but that's as close as I can get to what I'm trying to ask.

I'm asking this because sometimes, I catch myself thinking bout really weird things and it seems like I'm the only one who thinks about that stuff. Maybe I have neurological problems but the weirdest thing I've ever thought about it patterns. Yes, patterns....literally. You know those picture patterns that go like: square, circle, triangle, square, circle, triangle, square....and so on. Well, mine are picture patterns but not like that. I made this picture on paint so click the link below to see what I think up in my mind and tell me if you have ever thought abut patterns:

Or am I just weird?

Camptart: yeah, I think about these everyday. Sometimes I don't realize I'm doing it because I'd be listening to music and then I would catch myself thinking about them. It's weird

cajum m: well, I can draw pretty well. Maybe that's why I think of these patterns. And to the other person, yes I have Obsessive-Compulsive disorder....so that could be one of the reasons.

I DO THAT!!! half the time I don't even realize I'm doing it until I look at the paper in front of me and see a doodle like that going half way down the page - the one I catch myself doing most is I will draw a long line of bumps, like a row of hills, and then connect the top of them with another row of bumps on top, until it comes to an eventual point, then I go down the side of the pyramid, and so on in a circle it's weird, kind of like fractals that go on forever.

yes, i think weird stuff, and for some reason i see weird stuff too, i don't know why.

i.e. one time there was some sign that said something like "ATS" on it, but somehow with the font and lighting and shadows, all i saw was an image of a guy wearing a turban. i couldn't make out the actual letters at all and kept asking my friends, "isn't that a random sign?" and they thought i was crazy. after looking really long and hard, i finally was able to realize that it was just plain letters, and no picture at all!

Yes, I think everyone has some type of wierd thoughts, it normal. Patterns might suggest you are a little obsessive/compulsive. Again, a lot of people have lots of these conditions or thoughts but we only see the extremes when you read about someone being crazy or something!

When I was little, I always thought that the pictures I drew needed a frame sort of thing (to keep them in? I don't know) so I would draw pattern #3 or something like it around the edge of the paper.

Sure. I do the thing with patterns (hard to stop it), and also with ranndom things people say, or pieces of songs. Hear it over and over until I have to start listening to music on the radio or something.

But since I know that I'm probably a narcissist, I know also that I am probably wrong. My 'weird' thoughts are probably somewhat common.

You are completely normal.

These patterns originate in the optical cortex - they are a sort of "side effect" of how the visual part of the brain is wired - how it organizes information. At some time or another, nearly everyone sees or will see such things; especially but not limited to falling asleep, dreaming, etc.

you arent weird, people thought patterns are different. When you arent really doing anything except starring into space or in your case, listening to music, you know, just doing a lot of nothing to pass the time by, then your mind began to wonder about many many diferent things......

I do the exact same thing. I dont know if we are both weird or if it's normal...but i catch myself doing it all the time. Sometimes when i study my notes i find my random doodles of those patterns in my mind...kinda odd but you are not alone. = ) I heard somewhere that it has something to do with the way you think. I guess we are both geniouses. haha.

Literally its diffcult to tell things which a person is thinking. But in your case its different. You clearly imagine the thing in your mind. Later it get stored.

some interesting news for you is that, i have seen some your picture. But i dont get it quite often. For sure i have seen some.

sounds like a lovely way to pass the time. do these thoughts interfer with yoru dailly life or just when you have down time? do the patterns have any meanings? i know people who associate colors with sounds or think in color, that is a form of synethesia. Remember brillliant people often think outside the box.
