I was driving a one-lane backroad the other day, and there was a bull on the right side of the road as I approached, on MY side of a barbed wire fence. He walked towards me a few steps as I got closer, so I backed up about 300 yards to a place where I could turn around. Would it have been safe to try to pass him?

You did the right thing. If you spook any large animal, they can do rather massive damage to your car (and you!) very quickly.

I was at Blenheim Palace in England a number of years ago when someone opened the wrong gate and allowed a small herd of cows into the parking area. A couple were spooked by the cars trying to leave and the whole lot stampeded. Several cars were totally flattened and a number of people were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

No, but you could have just waited down the road until you got used to your car and moved off. Best not to spook them

Yeah, you should have just kept going if you had room to go around him.........
This reminds me of Oklahoma, I took my husband there and there was a calf in the road, it started chasing the car, it was so funny! I almost peed my pants!

No. You should get out and jump around waiving a 'red' flag.

I'd try to drive around it, it could do alot of damage to your car, if you hit it.
