The only way to naturally lighten your hair without chemicals is sunshine. To make it look healthier Steer clear of plastic-bristle brushes. "The proper bristles are key. Brush before shampooing. A few gentle strokes on dry hair will help remove product buildup and scalp flakes, as well as stimulate the scalp and promote blood flow (which delivers nutrients like oxygen) to hair follicles. Get regular trims, at least 1/2 inch every four to eight weeks. Use a wide-tooth plastic comb while hair is wet; then, once it's towel-dried, switch to a good brush

homemade I'mnot sure? I heard some girls in the office say they smooth their strands with body lotion (light application of course). I'd try it before you needed to go anywhere though.
Otherwise the obvious, hair shine syrum. John Frieda has some awesome stuff, I use the brilliant brunette but he has specifics for blonds and redheads as well. I also like the shine spray by got2be it's called Dazzling.

Any hair benefits from using bottled water. Once a week wash your hair with bottled water instead of your shower water since bottled has nutrients. To make your hair lighter (as in color) put lemon juice in your hair! Hope it helps and good luck!

chamomille tea is a great natural hair lightner .steep a few bags as if you were going to drink it -let cool to room temperature and pour on freshly washed and towel dried hair .let sit on hair for 10 minutes rinse and style as usual .you can do this a few times a week without worrying about damaging your hair -good luck

if you put mayonnaise in your hair and lay out in the sun, it will get lighter (my friend does this, it works)
I've heard that avocados make your hair look healthier, but not lighter.
Or, you can use a different type of hair product.

Yeah sunshine will brighten your hair. Or for a faster result, spray your hair with lemon juice and go in the sunshine/ blowdry.
