This place, YA, is the first place I have felt that I have to minimize my beliefs in order not to be attacked by others. GMA

Well, modern "hostility" does seem fair if you compare it with the hostility Galileo Galilei and countless of scientists, women, jews, cats, gays and pagans suffered when they were burned at the stake or had their families torn and their books banned during the Middle Ages.
Read Edgan Allan Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum" for a good example of what Christians did to non-believers in the Middle Ages and the Inquisition.... all those years of repression cannot help but create a resentment that still lives on today, when people are more free to speak their minds.
You are still the dominant majority and you still impose your ideas on the rest of us, though without the strenght you had before. Quit your whining.

Don't you really mean to say that Christians are attracting a lot of hostility?
I mean, if I set a bag of hostility on my porch, I hardly think I will attract a swarm of Christians with it,
Hey, believe what you want. It's cool by me. I fail to see why any Christian would need to hide. Around here, there are Christians all over the place.
It's a lot easier for a kid in school to say he's a Christian. If he tells the teacher or the class he's an atheist, he's likely to be in for it.
If you're an agnostic, it's even harder, believe you me.

No, if you believe in something strongly you should not be ashamed of it. Early Christians, then later those who broke away from the mainstream--Catholic--beliefs, were willing to die for their beliefs. Christianity is not unpopular, except in some Muslim countries, so there should be no need to hide one's religion. Even if it were unpopular--or banned--true believers would not stop practicing their beliefs, although they may have to take it underground as has happened before in Russia, Nazi Germany, present-day China, etc. (I'd like to see an evolutionist say that!)
On the other hand, although the Bible encourages Christians to be zealous, that is NOT the same as fanaticism, or being aggressive! You can practice your beliefs without being offensive, or a nuisance, because the Bible also says to "Let your reasonableness become known to all men."--Philippians 4: 5

If you are a Christian, you have everything going for you. It takes a lot of courage to stand up for Christ, but in this country we are blessed because we do not have to worry about the government telling us what to do religiously speaking. Christians do not have to hide who we are because we know that no matter what, God will take care of us.

Yeah, right? Where do you live in saudi arabia?
Give me a break.
Christian pretty prominent in our society although some of them occasionally annoy people when they over preach. if the person looks away when you are trying to save them, it means they are not interested.
That said, christians are everywhere in places of power. Hide? bah? As if.

I'm a Christian and I'm not attracted to hostility.....
(except on the R&S section, of course) ;-)
Nobody should have to hide who they are! That's just silliness!

Not any more than any other type of person should hide.
It's the labels: "I'm Christian, I'm a homosexual, I'm a clown with a heroin problem" that needs to hide.
It'd be nice if people were just...people. Y'know? Too much emphasis is put on what group or religion or other such nonsense people belong to.
When it comes down to it, who cares? I don't.

no. but then again, should athiests, wiccans, pagans, hindus, buddists, or any of the others have to hide from christians? In a perfect world no one would have to hide anything about themselves. Really shows how imperfect we are, doesn't it?

Teenage Christians shouldn't cover themselves; persons cover themselves. human beings save to themselves and do not continually seek for suggestion from with human beings reason they have believe topics. human beings also cover themselves reason they are shy and do not understand extremely anybody. that's difficult on particular human beings to mingle with others especally at the same time as they favor to be loners.
