I'm trying to get a color scheme going with chocolate brown as well and I'd suggest a light blue as well (robin's egg is a nice tone), but green can work if it contrasts enough or is in the same tonality (meaning it's the same level of light/darkness). Sage is a good option, as is a light tint of emerald but make sure it doesn't have too much yellow in it or it'll look like avocado.

Also red works if it is a blue-red (cool) color, not orange-red (warm) like hooker lipstick. A good example of blue-red can be found at Sephora!! The brand Prescriptives has a color wheel that is comparable to the paint colors you find in the Ralph Lauren paint line.

I'm going with light powder blue for my walls. If you have photoshop, take a picture of the room and select the walls you want to paint and play around with shades and tints. It helped me pick out the colors I want! Happy Painting ;)

You certainly could do green, but a great color compliment to chocolate is teal or turquoise. Both in the blue/green family, but really pops when next to the brown. Even a light blue would look great!

A light blue would look good. On the wall opposite to the brown one, you could get wall box shelves and paint them the same colour of brown and hang them up in a neat pattern.

Here's a suggestion. Go to your local paint store, Pittsburgh paints perferably (Cause I work for them) and look at their color center. Find a color that is very close to the brown that is already up and then overlap swatches until you find something that works for your taste.
Pittsburgh paints even have 2 ounce samples for 3.50 that you can go home and try to see if you like that color.

i don't know, that seems kind of like earth-baby-ish. guess it depends on which green. maybe like a cream color or a different shade of brown. but i think green could work if you pick a good one and don't make it look like the sierra club.

yeah grean works great. Get like a darker mossy looking green. My boyfriends mother recently did a room in her house like that and she used bamboo and asian themed deco along with it. It looks amazing. You can find alot of things to match these colors as well.
