My 12 year old niece wants to get her ears pierced but she is scared of the pain and what may happen. She couldn't get her ears done when she was a baby because my family has a certain tradition. We can't put holes or marks on our child without permission. So what websites show us the tools used by a doctor? And what will happen if the doctor did it?

Coincidentally, my 6 year old daughter just got her ears pierced as an early Christmas present yesterday.
We took her to the beautician, who was great. Very informative. I think the most important thing is taking her somewhere where they will be kind. patient and considerate.
You could consider going somewhere that has 2 ear piercing guns, so they do both ears at the same time. Apparently lots of kids walk out with only one earring as they decide they cany go through with it after one!
I would 'interview' the person who is going to do it for her beforehand. It would ruin it for her if they werent nice and gentle!
The beautician made her feel really special and grownup! Made it a really pleasant experience.
And my daughter said it DID hurt, but the fact the beautician showed her a mirror straight away and admired her, helped a lot!
Good luck. I think its great you waited til she was older. I feel so sorry for babies when I see them with pierced ears! Giving them a choice is definitely the way to go.
Oh by the way, my daughter jumped a mile when they did it. You may want to warn your niece to try not to jump!

You don't need it done by a Doctor - I got it done in Claire's and nothing went wrong.
There is a brief moment of pain, I won't lie, but it's so fleeting that you barely recognise it.
I imagine that if a Doctor did it, it would be much the same; he would numb your ears (I suggest you get them both done at the same time - as in, have them pierced at the exact same moment) and puncture the earring through. It sounds terrible, but it really isn't. Afterwards, you have to keep the earrings you chose in for a certain period of time, and when you're allowed to switch you musn't use dangly earrings for another period of time.
I hope this helped! :-)

I got my ears pierced when I was about maybe 12 years old? (7th grade). It didn't hurt for me at all, basically felt like they punched hole puncher through some paper. The tough part was sleeping after, because you don't want to sleep on your side while healing. Also tell her to remember to twist the earings as well during the healing process. She can go to almost any salon or accessories stores (like a Claires) and have it done. They can tell her everything she needs to know before hand.

CLEAN THEM REGULARLY.

Otherwise they don't heal as fast.

Also, rotate the earrings AND backings, make sure the backings aren't too tight or they will grow into the ear.

Don't change them too soon, especially if there is still blood or other fluids coming from the holes (srry that sounds so gross, but it's true.)

The pain doesn't last more than a few seconds.

Don't bother with a doctor.

go to your nearest Claire's and get it done.

The people there are usually nice and get it done right. But check it out first to make sure that the person doing it is fairly professional...otherwise, you should be fine.

I don't think there are sites that show the tools.
Never mind, I forgot that Wikipedia has everything, lol! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earring See if you find what you're looking for there. If you're niece is gettting her ears pierced, I'd suggest doing it at Claire's. I THINK it is free, but I might be wrong. Anyway, after she gets her ears pierced, she can get some cool jewlery. Claires is for ages 5-adult, they have all kinds of stuff!

I don't know of any websites but seeing as I have the experience of getting my ears pierced i know how it feels.

first of all they'll draw marks on her ears to show where the studs going. She may get to choose the stud she wants in. They'll use either a stapler looking piercer or a gun lookign piercer. It doesn't hurt, you don't feel much. Afterwards it stings for a little while but definetely no blood.

you're making an excellent case. i replaced into basically going to reflexively answer that you need to apply your adulthood to overrule what I evidently said as a ludicrous request that you've been tempted to indulge. All reported although, possibly the superb perfect answer is to video reveal the same favourite to both sexes, and tell the ladies to attend until eventually they are older besides. after all, why might want to a baby so youthful make any judgements about body replace on a lark? And that's socially unacceptable, not unexceptable.

dude, you can easily get it done at a mall
they use a lil earring gun that shoots it through your ear. It doesnt rly hurt unless youre an extreme pansy
all you have to do after is use the ear care stuff they give you or rubbing alchahol on it

really quite simple && the easiest piercing

doctor will do everything the people at the mall do but a little bit fancier and better. i got mine peirced by my dad. we got a home kit and he cleaned my ear really well and was really careful and they look great and are perfectly centered. they also don't cost much. don't tell her it won't hurt though because it does. but a few minutes of pain is worth it.
