If you only get to heaven if you believe and not by good works...?

If "even Satan believes in god," then why is Satan in hell? It doesn't matter that "he" is bad then if he believes.

Its not only about 'believeing' you must love the lord with all your heart. Also you must believe that Jesus is Gods son and that he died and was raised from dead. Satan does not love Jesus. You must love Jesus to get to heaven.

Satan used to be called Lucifer. He was at the time the most beautiful archangel in heaven. He also was the most powerful angel God created. But satan wanted to be like God and take over the Kingdom of Heaven, but God who is all powerful cast satan and a third of angels that followed Lucifer into hell. It's not that he believes in God, he knows that there is a God in heaven which he thought he could have. Today, satan tries to get as many people into hell to die with him because he hates us and everything God created which includes you and me and everyone on this earth. But God doesnit want us to die that is why He sent His son Jesus Christ to save us from our sins and spend eternal life with Him in heaven.

I am of the mind that satan doesn't believe that God exists, he KNOWS He exists. Also, I think that believing is not enough. People quote scripture after scripture that it is through grace alone that we are saved, but that is after all we can do. We need to be good people. Help others and all that. Believing is not enough. I need to end my answer here or else I am going to go off on another tirade about how people blindly believe any old stupid thing they are told without looking for themselves.

Something can be logical and still be false, if you start with a false premise. Faith without works is dead. Also, Satan isn't in hell he's here walking to and fro on the earth, as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

by works not faith alone a man is justified for faith without works is dead.
1 Tim 1 -- giving laws is an action - following the laws - those are also our works
Col 3:14-17 - whatever you do DO in the name of the Lord (works, action verb)
Eps 5:15 - prior and post is good to but - this is how to walk the way of God - that also a verb/work

once you accept Christ, you must Walk in His teachings and live a life according to His will.

At any rate, it was always my understanding that 'faith without works is dead' (James 2:20).
Besides, Satan believes God exists, he chooses not to follow. Likewise we can believe God exists and choose not to follow...The main reason you get to heaven is not cos you believe God exists but because you believe that he loves you, sent his only son, etc etc

Duh...you gotta obey God's 10 commandments. Do you see Satan obeying them? Satan is the worst, he doesn't follow any one of them. You can't worship any other god other than God, you can't make an idol to replace God, you can't misuse God's name, remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy, honor your father and mother, you can't murder, you can't commit adultery, you shall not steal (p2p downloading is stealing!!) do not give false testimony, do not covet your neighbor's things.

I wonder if Christians use Jesus as an idol? They call him God and they say he's the only way to heaven. I was Christian but I didn't feel comfortable calling Jesus God and giving him the glory of God when God said He will not give anyone His glory. God says to obey His commandments. Religion kind of veers us away and teaches all kinds of things in God's name...just obey God's commandments.............................
