I am Catholic and also really masculine. I don't think that the Church has any specific rulings on the matter, but I wonder if it is wrong for me to act super masculine when I am a female. I mean isn't it a sin to cross-dress? So maybe I should grow my hair out and stop wearing men's clothing... I detest femininity, but I don't want to sin, either. I know it sounds like a naive question but I am serious, so please give a helpful answer or don't answer at all. Thanks in advance, and God bless. Have a lovely Advent.

your manner of dress isn't important, it's what's in your heart. as long as it's not sinful or you are claiming not to be a female - you are accepting what God has given you - femininity - just by accepting that you ARE a female. the way a preson dresses, while should be respectable does not make a person. granted if you're more into wearing mens suits and such, then you might want to talk with someone about gender issues but - that doens't seem the case. if you prefer pants to dresses - so be it!

Hey. I am Catholic too. You aren't sinning by dressing in men's clothes. Here is something to think about. Men and women from the Bible wore basically the same outfits on a day-to-day basis. Maybe they changed for the Sabbath, but pretty much everyone wore a robe of some kind. Personally, I love the casual feel. Be comfortable. God will not condem you for being comfortable and happy with yourself. If you are happy with yourself, you can be more comfortable with others. And that's what God wants.

I would say to tone it down some. You definitely do not want to give a reason for scandal so if the clothing is not necessary do not wallow in it. I am Catholic too and I do not think that you should have to dress one way or the other as long as it is not obvious what your trying to say. Please do not push the gay button thing though because it is just not right.

Hey

If you detest femininity, it's your choice! The church can't change your thoughts and choices! They should just be there to help you get closer to God, not to help you lose your choices! You shan't be sinning if you cross-dress!

Hope that helped
God bless ya

If you aren't hurting anyone, no reason you can't just be yourself in your own life. What someone else does is none of my business.

I'm not masculine, though I, and others probably, don't care for the "feminine" thing much either. I consider myself "womanly," but not at all a girly girl. I think part of my dislike is that "feminine" has become either sissy girly girl stuff, or sex symbol...there is no normal in between anymore.

Why do I just know that when I tell you there's no such thing as sin that you simply will not believe me? I could be wrong. There is no such thing as sin. It goes against everything you've been taught, I know and that guilt you're feeling (obviously) is working against me here. but...I'm just right. There's no sin, just guilt and you control that.

So long as you don't act annoying and put down your sisters for wearing dresses you are O K.

In this day and age, a woman can have short hair, wear pants, ride motorcycles (I do :) and still be considered plenty girly - I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Dress so as not to be a plaything for the ignorant. Along with cleanliness and neatness, let your concern be for developing spiritual qualities that please God. Your only concern should be to please God, not man.
