LOL, mostly it is the other way around. But it doesn't hurt that Christians happen to be right.

We are not better, we all belong to the human race and do all the same disgusting things at times, but also some wonderful things at other times. I don't think because a person is an atheist that makes them a bad person. In fact, I prefer some I know over some Christians I know. The difference is our beliefs. We get upset with atheists for some of the put down about our faith. And atheist get upset when we talk about hell.

Same reason atheists think they're better than Christians because their lives aren't controlled. This is something religion does not matter in. There are people out there that think they're better because of so and so, it doesn't rest within one's religious belief or social group. Questions like these you should be able to answer with your own personal logic. You're specifically singling out Christians when this applies to everyone. When you have a question, just ask the question, not discriminate people. You don't have to try and offend people in the process. That's just pitiful.

In the christian world, there are those who may sometimes come across as you say. Jesus never instructed His followers to act better, in fact He taught them to serve. Which is the same thing as being a servant. A hard role for many to do. Christians should not think themselves better than anyone else, and not all do. However, non-believers or atheist, have no more right to act as though they have all the answers either. It makes you to look just as foolish as those you attack.

Not necessarily better people but have a better future. As I understand it, an atheist feels that the present life is as good as it gets. An atheist evidently believes there is no such thing as a life yet to come, no such thing as heaven or hell. A Christian believes as the Bible teaches that there IS such a thing as heaven and hell. A Christian has faith in God and believes whole heatedly that by the grace of God they will be saved and go to Heaven. Christians feel that this present life is not anything close to being as good as it's going to get. In Heaven there will be no such thing as pain, suffering, war, anger, greed, or death. Heaven will last forever. That being said, the Christian feels that to have an everlasting terrific life yet to come is a lot better than dying on this earth and absolutely nothing happening after that. Atheist=at death it's over, end of story, nothing else is yet to come. Christian=phase one of life is over at death and phase two is yet to come. Phase two is everlasting, exciting wonder in Heaven. A Christian is concerned about others, atheists included, and would like to see them accept Christ and enjoy eternal life.

why do atheists think they are better than Christians? (as evidenced by MANY answers on here) Why does anyone think they are better than anyone else for that matter- ?

Don't generalize- there are people in every group, ethnicity, religion (or lack of ), culture, that are full of pride and self exalting. It really has nothing to do with the specific religion, culture etc- it is human nature- some people are humble , some people are not. Christians that think they are better than anyone else need to learn humility. I am not a Christian because I am better than anyone else, it is because I am a wreck just like EVERYONE else- we all have problems and issues that need to change - we all need to be humble. Being a Christian does not make me any better than anyone else either- what it makes me is for another conversation for those that are truly interested

Maybe those people aren't truly Christians since being one requires following Christ's teachings and he taught us to be a humble servant when he washed the feet of his disciples. He also said he was not here to judge the world and it is not the job of his followers to go beyond his teachings.

I do not know why some of them do. I see myself equal to my non-christian friends.I love them all. X)
(Its those moments where you see the Conservatives with the worst look on there face while watching the blond headed atheist skip and frolic (literally)down the halls singing "ANARCHY!I love ANARCHYYYYY you ALLLL can suck M Y dick! Ha ha!" that make you burst out is laughter. And,yes,I know they are not all like that, just a few)

First of all, it's Christians* without an apostrophe. Sorry, I'm a grammar freak.

They might not necessarily think they're better than atheists. They just think atheists and anyone else who isn't Christian are going to hell. Doesn't that sound reasonable?

2006-12-19 12:17:56 · answer #9 · answered by Marp 1 · 0 2

We don't. The Bible says that "ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God." The only difference between Christians and atheists is that Christians have come to the realization that God is real and have thereby become "sinners saved by grace." (It might surprise you to know that many of us were atheists or agnostics ourselves before coming to Christ.)

God loves atheists just as much as He loves anyone else; and--despite the fact that atheists are always attempting to bait us and incessantly insulting our faith--SO DO WE!

Don't you mean "why do SOME Chrstians think they are better than atheist."

Some do, some don't, why do some football players think they're better than soccer players?

Depends on the person my friend..

The ones that do think they're better are usually brough up ignorant and look down on people who are not like them. Everyone can be ignorant, even some atheists. People are people.
