Sardegna is amazing! The sea is beautiful. The sky is beautiful. The land is beautiful. The culture is amazing. The people are fun. It gets crowded in the summer, but within reason. There are plenty of things to do. Bars on every corner. No big city life. Everything is relaxed and calm.

My sister belongs a villa in the Costa Smeralda area (North-east of Sardinia close to Porto Cervo) and I've been there a lot of times. My first suggestion is to avoid a visit in the full summer months (July/August) since all the resorts are much too crowded and it's really hard to move from one spot to another one......even by feet. On all the other months of the year it's a awesome beautiful site; they are not so many works of art, like there are in other sides of Italy but its nature and the sea are really wonderful.
It's one of the 2/3 favorite areas for Italians' summer holidays and that's the reason why I've advised you against going there in that period. I don't know what else to add since I'd never finish but I'm passing here below a few links with ton of infos and pics.
Enjoy all of them and I'm sure you'll fall in love with it....!!

My spouse is from Catania, Sicily and that i even were given married there (i'm English myself) and extremely few peopel communicate English in Sicily, and as a youthful woman vacationing i does no longer propose it. Getting round isn't undemanding in Sicily because the transportation is amazingly undesirable. The seashores are ideas-blowing and the foodstuff ideas-blowing, yet yu may discover it very very difficult. attempt to be authentic careful in case you flow to Sicily. the area the position the youngsters hostel is isn't the perfect also. I woudl be a lot more beneficial prone to point the Northern parts of Italy i.e. Rome or Florence and so on. Staying in a sturdy youngsters hostel in between the vast cities mutually with Rome, you'll meet many different backpackers and meet peopel actual. Rome will actually have more beneficial nightclubs and so on than someplace mutually with Sicily and its far less demanding to get about. you may love Rome i'm particular. if you're versatile, I woudl also propose Barcelona, Spain. a million month Rome and Florence, then a million month Barcelona.

I have not been there, but a friend of mine was there last year. She thought it was very beautiful. She had hosted an exchange student from there and was visiting her and her family.
My Italian teacher who has been there tells me it is very high end on the coast and kind of wild and rugged inland. I would like to go there someday.
