The cost of surgery depends entirely on your vet. When one of my cats was only 4 weeks old he had an umbilical hernia, and his guts were literally falling out. We went to one vet who quoted us $650, saying because he was so young he would need special chemicals, special care, a night in hospital and desexing as well. We shopped around through the cat protection society, who recommended a different vet, and they only charged $120 for the exact same care! It all comes down to how honest your vet is, and how much they care about animals. I do know that bladder stones can be a painful and expensive problem - good luck!

My cat just had a similar procedure done last month. He got a feline UTI (which can be fatal if not dealt with quickly) and the doctor said his urethra was partially blocked. What they did was give him some anesthesia (sleeping kind), shave around his weewee area, then clean the bladder out somehow without any cutting, probably by inserting some sort of instrument in thru the urethra, and flushing all the bad stuff out. He also had to stay overnight at the vet's one day. They gave me two different kinds of pills to give him for a number of days afterward. This whole thing costed $200, expensive but worth it for my kitty!

Cats get these sort of problems because of an imbalanced pH of their urine, which causes the bad stuff to form, and also too much magnesium in their diet. Cats have no use for magnesium and it is bad for them if they get too much of it. Many cheap/commercial brands of cat food have too much unnecessary magnesium in it. You can start giving your cat some food that is labeled something like "Urinary Tract Formula" or something along those lines. There are several kinds out there. Purina One makes a good brand, which is what I use, and my kitty only has problems when I STOP using good brands.

Good Luck, I hope your kitty does OK!

I think usually they just give them meds and special food to break down the bladder stones if they arent to bad. If they are pretty bad then they might do surgery and then you would need to talk to your vet about the cost. I'm guessing 200 + dollars for the surgery itself. Just a gues though because I dont know where you are and what prices are in your area.

In all, my cats surgery was close to $300. In future, try to feed it "9 Lives" or something for urinary problems. (too much acid)
