BEST = a tithe to your LOCAL church, then give as much of your Time and Enthusiasm as possible to Habitat For Humanity, CANADA.

WORST = whoever DOES NOT provide a tax deductible receipt ... OR ... whoever appears to be a 'bottomless black hole', continually showing little or no LOCAL results.

Charity begins at home, give to people in your home town that you know needs help. Give directly, then you will know that 100% of your money was given. Worst charity? Anything to do with government.

Every charity is a bad charity--when I send them money for "research" they spend it mailing me more of those "give us money" letters and then sell my name and address to every other charity...The absolute WORST is all those commercial on TV where you "sponsor" a child--all those 1-800 phone numbers all go to the same place AND the "owner" of this great "charity" uses that money for his giant mansion WITH A WATERFALL in the middle of the Nevada desert......now I go directly to the source and do it anonymously: buy groceries and drop them off at the shelter or to a family directly that needs it or I hear of a Vet that needs help and pay his gass bill for him. No money changes hands, I know exactly where my dollars went, my money doesn't go to waste, my name doesn't get sold, and I get the satisfaction of helping someone out....no, I have no proof for a "tax deduction" but it's not really giving if you are doing it for accolades or tax deductions..........

Best: Doctors without borders.
Worst: There are enough overheads to make it worthwhile to donate to Unitedway or Red Cross.

First, you should tithe (give one tenth of your income) to your church. Then, give to the poor, usually through your church or some organization in your area that works with those who need help.
