Depending on your relationship with our stylist the average tip for for highlights is around $7.00.
If you are close with your stylist or if he/she has been doing your hair for a long time then you may want to consider a bigger tip $10-$15, especially around christmas time and just to show you appreciate the job they do for you.
Use your judgement. Did you enjoy being at the salon? Did they treat you really well or were you ignored?
Etc. Etc.

A rule of thumb for any salon service or treatment is to tip 15-20% of the bill. In this case you should tip between $9-12, depending on how happy you are with your highlights.

In the NY metro area, the standard amount to tip a hairdresser or colorist is 20%. That would mean that your tip should be $12. I'm not sure where you live, but I would assume that this percentage should be similar. Keep in mind that the colorist must pay a large amount of their earning to the salon to have a chair there. That is the logic behind the larger tip.

Well i am a hair stylist so I'll tell you what we appreciate. It of course depends sometimes on the area you are in. Small town or big town? Because small towns are not usually too pricey, the stylist wont expect anything huge. Also depending on how long the service took , meaning how much time did they put into it hands on. And ofcourse did you like it?
If you like what they have done and it took more than an hour of their time i suggest 10 to 30 dollars

So the hairstylist thinks you should tip 50%?
How surprising.
You people are idiots.
