Both, and many other factors, as well (his ability to communicate, his intelligence, and other personality characteristics). It also depends on the woman.
Relationships based solely on money or looks are the ones that usually don't work out in the long-run.
You will also lose your looks eventually, and you can lose your money, too. You can never lose who you truly are as a person, though. And those are the relationships that work out better.
Good luck.

Good looks are an initial attraction, but most women, to be honest with you, would like their man to be at least stable financially, Since it is a woman's job to bear children and take care of the home, its' fairly important that her mate will be able to support the family.
Some women are financially independent already, some are more materialistic, it depends on the situation.
You must find a person that loves and respects you for who you are on many levels if you are interested in a serious relationship, and some people may also not be honest when u meet them so take your time to really get to know the person.
Good luck

Your idea of either money or good looks seems to run down the path of an evolutionary outlook of personality theories. According to the Evolutionary theory, women seek stability in men (e.g finances, resources, money). Men however seek out the youthful nature in women to grasp whether they are fertile or not. Thus the answer is therefore money according to this theory.

Only personality Why?
1) Money does not buy eternal happieness
2) Looks do not mean you are compatiable with that person they may be very attractive but the could also be total pains
3) Do you want to end up waking up every day to a rich snob who only thinks of herself and is very self-centered?

I think it would be looks if you REALLY think about it because money comes and goes. Plus, I doubt an ugly man with money would WANT to have plastic surgery :)
And any person can become rich in their lifetime if they are not right now.

I think good looks. If you are good looking, you still have a chance to make money. If you have money, you don't have a chance to become good looking...unless you go under plastic surgery.

I'd say that either one of those things works in the short term, but in the long term there's something that works even better: PERSONALITY.

In my opinion I rather be with a fine guy thats broke than with a guy who is ugly and has money. You never know, they could lose all their money and just end up being ugly and broke. He doesn't have to be rich, but he does have to have a job to be with me.
