pressure you into trying to join? Okay there's this creepy Navy dude who's always calling and trying to recruit me. It's been going on for about 3 months. He even came to my house in his uniform and asked me to join. The last time he called he was being really rude. The conversation went like this:

"Why don't you want to join?"

"Sorry, but the Navy isn't really for me"

"Why not?"

After some more explaining about how I wasn't feeling the navy and want to go into being an addictions councilor he got kind of snappy.

"Fine, you'll never get a good job."

"I think I can do fine without the navy."

"You're loss."

He hung up and like 3 days later started calling again trying to recruit

Let me help you out with this. First, to disspell a myth, nobody in recruiting gets any "extra" money for the number of recruits they bring in. You get $450.00 a month in specialty pay to offset the inconviences of not being around a base.

I have run Navy recruiting for 5 years. This is not a police issue and they will not respond to your complaint. Have one of your parents take to to the local recruiting office and ask for the Recruiter in Charge. Tell him directly to remove your name from RTOOLS. Inform him nicely that you do not wish to receive another phone call. If you get one, you will be calling his Zone Supervisor. If you get another one, you will be talking to the Commanding Officer. I don't know a Zone Sup that would allow this to continue once they are notified. We are not in the business of harassing, just providing information and helping those looking for adventure. Good Luck!

PS: Do NOT lie and make up being a lesbian. You will be eliminated from the service forever like that and some day you may change your mind. Never give up the option.

Your situation is somewhat troubling. During my senior year in high school, I was also approached by Navy recruiters and urged to sign up. But, they never went as far as to go to show up at my house. He seems more like a stalker than a recruiter. The next time he calls, asks him for his name and rank. Try to get his service number as well. Find the number for your local Navy recruitment office and ask to speak with the supervisor or the officer in charge. Explain to him your situation and provide any details of your interactions with the recruiter. Be sure to document everything. Write down when you called the supervisor? What was the supervisor's name and rank? When did the recruiter call? When did he show up at your house? You might have to file for a restraining order and you will need to provide proof that he is harassing you. And, what ever you do, don't let him to your home- especially if you are alone.

I think I would ask for the name of his boss. Or call your local recruiter office. It does not sound right. If all else falls call your local police department for all you know this guy is a stalker. It is not how a normal recruiter would act. My daughter in law is in the Navy and I met her recruiter and I know that is not a normal behavior

The recruiter is doing this because he gets paid extra for every recruit he brings in. Call his commanding officer and explain the situation. He'll get in really big trouble for this. I don't know about the legality of it but, I know this isn't the navy policy. This is harassment plain and simple. Don't wait to do this, he doesn't sound like he's wrapped to tight.

You should tell him or her next time that you can't join the navy because of family you can't stand to be on boats and it's legal for them to do that it the government trying to get you in to the navy and if they keep calling and if you have caller ID and their number pops up pick it up and hang it back up or say you have the wrong number or sorry she died today or last week or something like that

What you've described is NOT illegal. Until you tell HIM to stop contacting you you have NO complaint.

Simply contact the AREA Recruiting office (in your Yellow Pages) and ask for the Chief Petty Officer and tell them to remove you from their list.

To REALLY stop the calls, inform the recruiter you're a lesbian !! hahahaha

Perhaps he is a rapist and not really a navy guy?
But they can be pushy and it isn't illegal, but you can, the next time he calls, ask to talk to the person in charge, explain to him that the navy is not for you and to never call again, they will take you of their calling list most likely.

also call the boss like the others said and record a phone call that the "navy sended u"

I don't think it's a good behavior, especially if you are so young.
to stop him?? you can try saying something "not really patriotic", but not too much or he will send you to Guantanamo.....
(of course avoid to do this if are thinking about joining the navy in a future)
