There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html

Home remedies don't work, at all, for really bad acne, trust me, I've tried all of them. You need to go to a specialist if you want to get rid of your acne fast and effectively. If you have really bad acne, you should go to your regular doctor and tell them to refer you to a dermatologist. Since your visit is refered, you don't have to pay the extra money to see a specialist. Ask about Retin- A Micro. It is a very, very effective acne medication. First they will give you antibiotics, then they will put you on the Retin- A Micro. They medication is usually covered by insurance and there hasn't been any reports about depression or suicide while using this medication, like some other prescription acne medications. I has really, really horrible acne a couple of years back and the Retin- A Micro cleared it all up in about two months. Good luck.

I used to have bad acne all over my torso and face. I was put on antibiotics for a long time, but it just didn't clean it up, I finally agreed to a fairly strong drug called roacutane ( isotretinoin) which clears it up entirely. You have to stop rigorous exercise and have blood tests though while you take it. It kills of all your sebaceous glands and then after a few months its gone completely. Easier options are cremes such as sulphur based creams or benzoyle peroxide type creams, if you just have some acne here and there, they can be quite effective, use the later type gently since they can burn your skin a bit. From what I have tried, diet changes alone wont do it. It is always a good idea generally though to clean up ones diet, and it should help if you have less soft drinks and deep fried food, but have plenty of fresh fruit, veggies and cereals ( real cereals, like untoasted muesli, psillium husks, bran, oat bran.wheat-bix, vita-brits). I think saunas are excellent. They help your skin clean itself out, just drink plenty of water also. sunshine helps, if you can lie in the sun for a while ( but carefully, you don't want to exchange acne for skin cancer) swimming in seawater is good, if you live near a beach. Good Luck!

let me give you some advice...having JUST gotten rid of my acne.

don't over dry your face. try not to dry it out at all actually. because when you do your skin trys to compinsate for the lost oils with more oil. what i found works the most is the Mary Kay line of clensers. i use the one for combination to oily skin.

with me though i stopped washing my face so much. maybe once or twice a week with a regular clenser ( cetaphil it think it was called, some cheap kind i got at Wal-Mart) and some very light astringent .i got it back to normal, my face started clering up after a few months. then i started using Mary Kay stuff for Combination to oily skin. you just have to do that when you change facial clensers because if you just go from one to the other you shock you skin and that makes it wose.

but when i was in my early teens i used natures cure and it worked wonders. but after i turned 17 it quit working for me.

When i think back to the days when my acne was the worst it probably had a lot to do with my diet and fatty foods that were consumed.

I have fought it for years, I think the one thing that worked somewhat well were powerful and some what dangerous prescription drugs and creams.

I'm sorry, but there's nothing you can do. I know from experience.

HOWEVER, if you are persistant enough, and use a couple of zit creams at least twice a day, you might be able to get rid of them pretty quickly.
