I have a fire wire but no fire wire port on my computer to connect it to. Is there a wire that connects to the USB Port and then connects to the fire wire?

There are USB-to-FireWire conversion cables but they are pricey. It's not as simple as rewiring a connector -- it needs an actual electronic converter. The link to one such conversion cable is below and the part costs $119.
