Jesus was born by Mary no father, yet Joseph is related to David. Jewish people require the messiah to be related to David. So was Jesus born from Joseph's seed? Or is Joseph being the step father so to speak enough for Jesus to be related to David?

What other things is required for the Jewish messiah?
Is there places in the bible where it says god or Joseph is his father?
If we read he is son of god, Can we look at this as we are all children of god but he is the son of god but seed from Joseph?

Add anything else. I am so very interested in this.

He must gather the Jewish people from exile and return them to Israel -"And he shall set up a banner for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth." (Isaiah 11:12)

--Are all Jews living in Israel? Have all Jews EVER lived in Israel since the time of Jesus?

He must rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem - "...and I will set my sanctuary in their midst forever and my tabernacle shall be with them.." (Ezekiel 37:26 - 27)

--At last check, there is NO Temple in Jerusalem. And worse, it was shortly after Jesus died that the Temple was DESTROYED! Just the opposite of this prophecy!

He will rule at a time when the Jewish people will observe G-d's commandments - "My servant David shall be king over them; and they shall all have one shepherd. They shall follow My ordinances and be careful to observe My statutes." (Ezekiel 37:24)

--The Torah is the Jewish guide to life, and its commandments are the ones referred to here. Do all Jews observe all the commandments? Christianity, in fact, often discourages observance of the commandments in Torah, in complete opposition to this prophecy.

He will rule at a time when all people will come to acknowledge and serve one G-d - "And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me, says the L-rd" (Isaiah 66:23)

--there are still millions if not billions of people in the world today who adhere to paganistic and polytheistic religions. It is clear that we have not yet seen this period of human history unfold.

Rather than use the term "Jewish messiah", it would be more accurate to talk about the Messianic Age described in the Hebrew Bible.

The Hebrew scriptures are not too concerned with the actual figure of the messiah. The purpose of his coming is to usher in the Messianic Age. It's this yet-to-come time of perfection that the Hebrew scriptures tells us about. Too much focus on the Messiah himself distracts from this main point -- this messianic age that the world is heading for/striving for.

The Hebrew Bible tells us that after the Messiah (called the son of David in the Bible) comes, several very obvious differences will be seen and experienced by everyone in the world, such as:

1. And end to wars (Isaiah 2:4; 11:5-9 and Michah 4:3-4)

2. The rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem (Michah 4:1 and Ezekiel 40-45)

3. Ingathering of Israel (Isaiah 11:12; 27:12-13)

4. Universal knowledge of God of Israel (Isaiah 11:9-10; 40:5 and Zephaniah 3:9)

Mary is descended from David, and so is Joseph, but since Jesus was conceived solely by the power of the Holy Spirit, with no sinful human father, Mary's bloodline is the only one that really matters.

Legally though, and practically, the fact that Joseph also descends from the line of David, makes for a nice and tidy little package.

Dear Labatt,

Have you read the whole Bible?

Jesus is the fulfillment of more than 300 prophecies in the Hebrew scripture. Think about it. Jesus the Christ was the ONLY person who had his entire biography written BEFORE He was born.

Edit: A few years ago I was reading the Bible with some Jewish neighbors. She enjoyed the reading, the conversation and the company and felt that Jesus was a "good man" but not her Savior. He, however, asked me why the rabbis never told him about Jesus Christ. As we read and studied together my neighbor realized that Jesus was indeed the fulfillment of Hebrew prophecy. He decided to start attending a Messianic synagogue and now considers himself to be a Messianic Jew.

Not again!
This is Christmas...remember?
Peace on earth; goodwill to men.
Both Mary and Joseph were of the seed of David.
Merry Christmas!

Jewish, Christan,
One thing for sure, each are sure to tell you the same, its not worth arguing about, that brings hate, fighting, and disagreement, when we should be excepting each faith, no matter what, because God is Love no matter what language he is taught in, I believe, both believe, God is Love, so here is a hug,
now get over it.

And the Jews say, 'God's hand is tied up.' Their own hands shall be tied up and they shall be cursed for what they say. Nay, both His hands are wide open. He spends as He pleases. And what has been sent down to thee from thy Lord will most surely increase many of them in rebellion and disbelief. And We have cast among them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection. Whenever they kindle a fire for war, God extinguishes it. And they strive to create disorder in the earth, and Allah love not those who create disorder.

Thou shalt certainly find the Jews and those who associate partners with God to be the most vehement of men in enmity against the believers. And thou shalt assuredly find those who say, 'We are Christians,' to be the nearest of them in friendship to the believers. That is because among them are savants and monks and because they are not arrogant.
