Modern TV's and Video recording equipment (including DVD recorders) all use the SCART system to interconnect rather than the old RF Aerial cable.

As far as I know, if you have a TV with SCART and a Freeview recorder, you can watch digital TV and record the channel you are watching as the signal comes from the Recorder.

If you have a Freeview TV and a regular recorder without Freeview, you can still record the channel you are watching as the signal comes from the TV.

If you want to watch one Freeview channel and record a different Freeview channel, you need a Freeview TV and a Freeview Recorder.

Some (more expensive) recorders offer the feature whereby you can watch one channel while recording another channel.

Freeview TV's are referred to as IDTV - Integrated/Interactive Digital TeleVision.

As opposed to HDTV, High-Definition TeleVision.

Most new TVs will have free view built in and even if they haven don't worry about it you can just by a free view box. The free view box's start about from around £30 and now the new ones offer a top up service so you can get all the free view Chanel's plus some of the exclusive sky Chanel's you would otherwise not get!.

At the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference and how much you are willing to spend!.

you should use your non-HD DVD participant with your HDTV, besides the indisputable fact that it should not be as 'sparkling and crisp' as an HD DVD participant will be. once you've a larger series (over one hundred disks) of non-HD DVDs the do save your previous participant ... and by using contest between HD DVD and Blu-Ray DVDs, i does not initiate determining to purchase those disks until eventually the 'winner' is extra sparkling. at present the winner seems Blu-Ray, yet my husband and that i are going to attend until eventually about June of next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days beforehand we opt for which to 'improve' to ... and we should not be determining to purchase any 'new copies' of the stuff we've already got, basically getting the hot ones in that format. definite, we do have a 'larger series' considering we personal some thing over 2 hundred of the 'accepted' DVDS so a procedures!
