dessert? my mom always had us make marshmallow corn flake wreaths. here's the basic recipe from cooks.com. it's a little messy, which is why kids like making it.

CHRISTMAS WREATH COOKIES
Printed from COOKS.COM

1/4 c. butter
30 marshmallows
1/4 tsp. green food coloring
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. corn flakes
Red Hots

Melt the butter and marshmallows. Add food coloring and vanilla. Pour over corn flakes. Mix until coated. Drop small amounts as for cookies on buttered sheet. With fingers slightly buttered, place one finger in center and shape into wreaths. Wash butter from your fingers and decorate wreaths with tiny Red Hots.

I would let them chill a little first, to let the marshmallow set before serving.

for an appetizer: a basic cream cheese covered appetizer is always easy.
Take cream cheese and cover with either blueberries, baby shrimp in cocktail sauce, or for some spice jalapeno jelly or chili.
The upscale version would be brie covered with apricot preserves.

have fun

Rice Krispies with Christmas Candy!

This is fun, easy and really yummy.

Have kids spread peanut butter between Ritz Crackers to make little sandwiches.
While the kids are doing this, in a double boiler melt either 1 12oz. bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips with 1/2 stick of paraffin wax (yes, you can eat paraffin wax and we have used it in candy coating for at least 30 years) or a block of almond bark.
Have kids dunk their cracker sandwiches in the chocolate and fish them out of the chocolate with tongs or a couple of forks, and place on waxed paper to cool.
EASY and YUMMY!!

Another easy and Yummy recipe:

Haystacks
In a double boiler melt 1 12 oz. bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 12 oz. bag butterscotch chips.
When all melted add 2 - 3 cans crunchy chow mien noodles.
You can also add peanuts and/or raisins.
Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper and let harden.
Really Yummy!!

Make your normal Rice Krispie squares BUT-
Substitute CORN FLAKES, and dye the mixture deep green. Get the kids hands buttered up, and make some wreaths. Use red-hot cinnamon candy as the berries.

These aren't hard, but they are very pretty--and yummy, too!

You can melt white almond bark and stir in crushed peppermint candies or candy canes.

OR

Take 4 cups of graham crumbs and stir it into one 12 oz. tub of chocolate frosting. Roll into balls, roll into some extra graham crumbs and enjoy.
