I once read an article about whether or not expensive shampoos really matter. Regular shampoos work just as well as color-protecting ones, and specialized shampoos to straighten your hair or add more volume tends to build up and cause your hair to unattractively attach to your head.
I generally spend around $20 on my shampoo but I used to use Pantene which was pretty cheap. The more expensive shampoo seemed to make a difference when i first started using it but then it started losing its effect so I switched to another one. And I continue switching my shampoos and conditioners. I remember buying I think was a Kate Spade shampoo that was very expensive but the same thing happened. It lost its effect.
So now I conclude that the price generally doesn't matter since a $5 shampoo does the same thing as a $20 or $50+ shampoo so don't let them trick you into buying anything more than what suits you well. And $70?!?! Go with your gut instinct, she's nuts.

No way, especially when I can get a Dove or Avon shampoo that is a pure pleasure to use, for less than $3-5 (depending on the brand) per 250 ml bottle!
Furthermore, some dermatologists or pharmacists in my country would even be able to make a completely custom-made, real deal shampoo, for ca $ 6-7 per bottle, adjusted for your hair and scalp needs. (And I live not in the U.S., but in the country where almost everything except real estate and education is so much more expensive than in the U.S.!)

the most i would spend on a bottle of shampoo would be maybe 7 dollars. but 70.00, not unless it is magical and going to make my hair grow 3 feet in 24 hours. i think she was just trying to make some money off you. not really nuts.

I'd pay $70... if it was a 10 gallon bottle!
I've actually started buying shampoo online. I get about 3x as much as I used to at the store for about 1/2 the price.

I wouldn't buy it unless I had cash to burn and/or has some sort of serious hair condition that I needed it in order to repair my hair. The most I'd spend on a bottle of shampoo is about25-30 bucks.

Switch stylists...? That's insane. You could probably find a knockoff that's just as effective for a much lower price. No shampoo is worth $70.

sounds to me like she is trying to make some christmas spending money i know how much products cost the hairdresser to but to resale and i promise u there is no products that should cost that much unless she is doing a procedure on you plus selling you some shampoo together then i would understand the price of 70 dollars i was a hairdresser for 27 years and the price of the products that are sold for retail are usually 3 times what the hairdresser has paid for that particular product

None of that expensive stuff is worth it. I've tried everything from Frederic Fekkai to Pantene and the best I have found is by Sebastian, about $7 a bottle.
