No, it's not difficult. You just have to approach it in a methodical way, which is why scientists do well at it. You must be prepared to put in hard work over the verbs and the noun declensions. The accent is very straightforward.

Just like any foreign language, it's tough. There are so many differences between languages. But, if you work hard enough, you can learn it. Once you get down the basics and basically the whole "format" of the language, I believe you could learn it.
Good luck!

First the standard answer that learning a foreign language, regardless of what it is, is difficult and time consuming.
Specifically with German, there are elements of German grammar that are complicated and require extra time to grasp. Compared with, say, French or Spanish, German grammar is a bit more complicated, yes. But in spite of that, it sounds like German might be the best language for you given your studies.
If you want specifics about German grammar, write me privately as I had studied it for 2.5 years in college.

I took German in high school and my boyfriend took several years of German. I found it much easier than Spanish, which I took in college.
German is said to be the closest language to English. I would think someone who has little difficulty handling chemistry will not have difficulty with German. Best of luck!

I speak German fluently. Grammer is much harder than English. Spelling is much easier in German because you don't have all these silent letters like you have in English.
There are three genders in German: feminine, masculine and neutral. Like in French and Spanish there is an informal "you" pronoun and a formal one. I have studied all 4 languages mentioned above. Spanish was the easiest. I hope this helps. Good luck!!

Its not so bad. I studied it in high school. It does seem to have abit more grammar than english or french but its certainly manageable. It used to be the language all science students HAD to learn for obvious reasons.

I thought it was very easy. English is a Germanic language, so many of the words and phrases sound quite the same since ours are derived from theirs. It's definitely easier for us to remember many of their words as opposed to, say Japanese.

I don't think so at all aside from maybe the pronunciation of it. I have a friend from Germany and, because the languages are so closely related, her English is near perfect. (She just turned seventeen/eighteen.) I imagine it would be the same vice versa.
