Is it better, or worse, or does it make no difference if I do like - 20 crunches but hold them for 10 seconds... as apposed to doing lots of crunches and holding them briefly?

Searching for a flatter, firmer stomach. =)

crunches can be a pain!!! i know i do about 30 every day. it really doesnt help if you just hold them, cause you not working as much. when you hole your just being lazy. you have to bring yourself to do these. ok heres how to get a perfect stomach in about a month (maybe a little more or a little less depending on how determinate you are!) do 30 - 50 crunches everyday. when you do them count mississippies, & go down on the breath you take between counting. you have to be in a solid tempo, so dont suddenly start to speed up, or slow down. when you bring yourslef up bring your right elbow to your left knee, and your left elbow to your right knee, this way your abbs form from each way & you will see faster results! believe me this is a great way to get a flat stomach! it works great for me, and its easy to do.
good luck :] you will be proud when summer comes along & it will be time to bring out that bikini!!

do 20 crunches 2 seconds up, 2 seconds down, then rest 1 minute and repeat. also holding a push up position for as long as you can helps strengthen the abdomen.

The longer you force a muscle to "hold", and moving very very slowly in your movements will better define your muscle development. Muscles are made of multiple parts and sections that coordinate with other muscles. If you move fast, you can bypass some muscle sections, but if you go real real s l o w, then you will work harder and the definition/tone of your muscles will be more obvious/sculpted and last longer.

Do some of both. Holding them will increase your abdominal muscle strength and doing a lot of then at a steady pace will improve your stamina.

i think it's better to hold the crunches till you feel a burn rather than doing alot of crunches.- it will save on time that way too- you won't have to do as many
