David Hasselhoff--very big in Germany.
The question: what would be the German article for "the Hoff"

I was thinking "der Hoff" but I'm just not sure! Also, if you can link to your answer that would be great.

I'm not looking for the article for the actual German word "Hof." Since David Hasselhoff changed his nickname to "The Hoff" I wanted to know what the article would be.
If in Germany he's known as "Hof" then okay.

Das = Neutral

Often a name is adapted to new spelling habits.
Therefore Hasselhoff.
That is NOT German.
In German it would be Hasselhof.
It is not important if he is male, it only matters that it is "der Hof", meaning the court, the yard, the garden (the farm).
So Hasselhoff means the garden of Hassel (a name)

It's "Der".
Der means the if it's a he.
Die means the if it's a she.
Das means the if it's an it.
David is a he so it is "der Hoff".
I'm sure, I'm from Germany (though I'm not a fan of him at all).

Well, I'd use der because he's male... even though hope is a feminine noun, this is a nickname so it doesn't work that way.
