Okay serious answers only. Many Christians consider homosexuality to be a sin because of verses in Leviticus."You shall not lie with a male as with a woman.
It is an abomination." (Leviticus 18:22) obviously that's very clear on where the Bible stands. I am not disputing that, however there are many other verses in Leviticus that many Christians do not follow. Here are some of those:
"For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him." (Leviticus 20:9)
Can you imagine what would happen if people advocated a literal interpretation of this scripture.
Leviticus 19:27 tells men not to cut hair at the sides of their heads or to clip the edges of their beard. There are many more.
What I want to know is why do Christians advocate a literal interpretation when the Bible deals with homosexuality but not other things.

It's a legitimate question... and I see Christians sidestepping it all over the place. And actually, if they gave a CRAP about proper comprehension of scripture, they'd know this:

The passages in Leviticus, understood IN THE CONTEXT of the time and place, are not an admonishment against loving sexual relationships between people of the same sex but instead against sex as a form of domination and control. Besides, these passages are part of the Holiness Code which is not binding to modern day Christians (or anyone else for that matter).

I see that you are quoting from the Hebrew Scriptures regarding your question, then you are quoting another one that is also a part of the Mosaic Law which is impossible to follow.

Nice work really....kinda shuck and jive. Very original.

Okay, we are no longer under the Mosaic Law per the following Scriptures:

"He kindly forgave us all our trespasses 14 and blotted out the handwritten document against us, which consisted of decrees and which was in opposition to us; and He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake" Colossians 2:13-14

"For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God; but not according to accurate knowledge; 3 for, because of not knowing the righteousness of God but seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness." -Romans 10:2-4

Now as far as the principles condeming Homosexuality being repeated in the Christian Greek Scriptures?

"That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error." Romans 1:26-27

"What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom. And yet that is what some of YOU were. "
-1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Now, it is interesting that at the end of that last Scripture that is says "And yet that is what SOME OF YOU WERE"

Evidently, there were practicers of homosexuality in the Corinthian congregation that Paul was writing and they repented and left that 'death style' if you will

You point about "why do Christians advocate a literal interpretation when the Bible deals with homosexuality, but not other things" needs to have a bit more substance.

What examples are you talking about? You can't use the law that Christians are no longer under to judge the commandments they are trying to keep? Can you?

You have a fairly good point that most "christians" pick and choose what they want to accept from the Bible. Many will attempt to make new doctines from a single verse, but that is not a wise practice.

The Bible is very clear about homosexuality being an "abomination" or sin. Many homosexuals want to ignor this and think that they can continue to practice their particular sin and still call themselves "christians". There are many others who have their favorite sins and will not give them up, but they want to claim the rewards of the righteous. In they end, they will learn that they were wrong in their thinking.

Jesus came to save us from our sins. It is our sins that will separate us from God eternally. He came to show us that it is possible to live without sin, and he commanded us "be ye therefore perfect as my Father which is in heaven is perfect."

We are often told to repent, but what does that mean? It doesn't mean only to confess your sin, but it means to get rid of it and separate from that sin.

before 1946 they have been Sodomites, and Lesbians, oftentimes referred to as Amazons, in derogatory slang Dikes, and the masculine counterpart for that insult replaced into Fag or *****, so there have been descriptions, yet none of them have been great, aside from what replaced into implied on occasion with "previous Bachelor" or "Spinster"/"previous Maid", with people identifying directly to no longer marry the choice intercourse, as replaced into to no longer their flavor, they could particularly proceed to be single(on occasion implied no longer consistently a gay nature). Homosexuality is as previous as devil, as he orchestrated it to offend God acceptable from the commencing up alongside with Rape, Bestiality, Sacrificing Newborns, Orgies(Gamorrites, or with courtesy defined Hedonists), Peor god worship(Oral intercourse), and Temple prostitution to assuage the "gods", and their followers, Druidism(which incorporate all witchery), none of those issues are new decrease than the sunlight, Homosexuality is likewise Biblically referred to as "the giving and taking of many marriages as in Noah's day" which meant no person had any regard for the classic marriage of a guy and lady. The Bible additionally speaks of girls shouldn't gown up and act like adult adult males, it relatively is yet differently of conversing approximately Lesbians pursuing women folk as "synthetic adult adult males", no longer a strict gown code like some denominations have faith. Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 Romans a million:26 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 1st Kings 14:24 15:12 2d Kings 23:7 Deuteronomy 23:17-18 Revelation 22:15(implied) and Genesis 19:4-5 Jude 7 Judges 19:22(Gilbeah) are some passages that cope with Homosexuality/Prostitution the two recognized "fake god worship" like I mentioned because of the fact the very commencing up, no longer long after Cain, and on an analogous time as we are translating sin "looking upon a father's nakedness" is incestuous kin with the mother(father's nakedness loosely translated back to Hebrew), there is various words that want translation to their Hebrew/Greek understanding to be ideal understood. i'm hoping this does not crush you donkey, Peace to you and yours.

Many things in the Old Testament were disregarded after Jesus' death and resurection (ie pork being unlclean). As for homosexuality, it's still called an abomination even in the New Testament (I believe in some of the later books, including Revelations). Hope that answers your question.

Yes leviticus is a fine book to adhere to isn't it? Bats are unclean birds according to leviticus, and wearing clothes made of two different fibers is an "abomination".
Funny how christians view their religion like a salad bar. They take what they like and leave the three bean salad behind.
Not the way it works folks, you either take it ALL, or you're just another hypocrite...

Maybe it's because not too many Christians ever pause to think that the Old Testament has nothing to do with the teachings of Christ. The texts you quote are the law as God laid it down to the Jews (or as the men who wrote them claim God laid them down to the Jews). Christ's message of loving one another just keeps getting lost along the way.
Oh, and you know those people who hunt through the Bible to find verses to support their prejudices - the ones you mentioned? William Shakespeare had a line about the devil citing scripture for his own purposes.

If we all followed the Bible literally, the world would be a horrible place.

As it is, selective adherence to the Bible, the Koran and Torah are making things pretty bad as it is.

Christ came to die for all of our sins. The ability to be cleansed of your sins does have a catch though. You must repent. To repent, you must recognize your actions as sin and make an honest effort to change your ways. Homosexuality, while a sin, is no worse than adultery but if an adulterer who refuses to admit or repent for his or her sin denies God.

If I curse my mother or father I have sinned. Obviously, none of us would want to do that and should repent for that action. If we do, we are forgiven.

The facial hair issue is of Jewish law not a description of sin. Many Jews still do follow that law.
