I don't really have a question. I just wanted to share my personal opinion on Christianity.A couple years ago, I decided that I am an agnostic. And here is why.I learned that people go to church out of fear of hell, not out of love for a God.Why would you love a God that makes you feel guilty for every thing you've done? And besides, nobody is ever REALLY sorry for ALL their sins....but they still ask for forgiveness anyway. Why?Because out of fear of hell. For a small number of people (mostly teens), church is a time to socialize with your friends....kinda like school. And most of time it is seen as sort of the "in" thing to be a christian.
I believe Christianity is hypocrisy, it is guilt, it is contradictory....therefore I cannot trust it.I believe all religions should be practiced at home.I do not like nor trust organized religion. All you get is false translations. It should be made illegal for people to push religion onto others.

It bothers me how parents push their religion onto their children....when they should be teaching their children open-mindedness. What do you get out of growing up in a religion? You get people who think their religion is the absolute correct one, when they haven't even studied other religions! Children should not be taught about God, they should be taught religion when they are mature enough to take in the information and make judgements on it accordingly. Children will believe anything.....thats why they should not have religion pushed on them from birth.

And when I say that I am agnostic....I do not lie. Even though my rantings sound atheistic, I am not.
I believe that there are unexplained things in this world that cannot be explained through science, therefore, a higher power MAY be a possibility. But I still want proof like any other atheist.

And if you all want to judge me and put me down for my beliefs, you go right ahead. That's your perogative. But I am, by no means, pushing any of my beliefs onto you. I am simply sharing my beliefs.....just as the Christians share theirs.

For those of you who think I have empty opinions...then I should probably say that I grew up a christian and I accepted Christ and was baptized when I was 16 years old. It was my own choice to leave the church. I do not form my opinions based on what others tell me. I base them on my own personal experiences. I base them on what I have seen and witnessed in my life.

Ya why do Christians get sour when their kids convert to something else and they condemn converters to hell because they don't believe in Jesus, yet Jesus said that you can't judge others lest ye be judged also...derrrr....Christians always points fingers and say "you're going to hell". I don't know what Islam says, don't know too much about them. I think Jews are the most quiet, they don't judge people and they don't proclaim their faith as the pathway to heaven, they don't SHOUT and they're not hypocrites like Christians.

You know I am a Christian and the way I like to address that is that religion is for people afraid of hell and spirituality is for people who have been there and don't want to go back.
Yes you are right there may be sins that I'm unaware of that I'm not sorry for but for me it isn't about the after life as much as it is what He gives freely to me now. It is a shame that you don't know anyone who's life has been changed and seem to know only the judgmental types. Stay away from them. Look for Mother Teresa types, you do know she was a Christian, right?
Also keep in mind that men are always fallible even Christian ones and that if God was running things He would be quick to point out that they should take the logs from their own eyes before judging others. I think that He himself is angry with many organized religious leaders

I don't know what god you were worshipping, but my God doesn't put guilt trips on people. Why? Because there is NO condemnation in Christ. PEOPLE are the ones who make others feel guilty, not God.
I find it really sad that you've allowed the opinions of other people to send you to hell. So what if everyone else pretends to love God! Why not be an individual and seek God, who He is, and then understand why He is worthy of love and why someone would become truly repentant for their sins?
I'm a Christian, and I don't go to church for the exact reasons you listed above, but that doesn't mean I turned my back on God. I can find all the answers I need in the Bible at home.

I have to agree with you, to many people hold religion for all the wrong reasons. The real reason for organized religion was to unify beliefs, the problem with interpreting something as large as the bible is how to interpret it. just like a statement can be taken out of context, it is very easy to take the bible out of context. Churches original form was to supplement the belief and allow them to be linked. Religion is meant to unify people, and unfortunately human flaw will dictate that many will be hypocrites, or only do things because they see a reward system. We all learn from what came before, and in a way looking past everything that is on the surface and actually paying attention could do something for yourself, other than the whole hell thing...don't know, just a few thoughts.

You don't need organized religion. There is no hypocrisy in true Christianity, however, only by some individuals claiming to represent it.
To be honest, allegeed "hypocrisy" is used as an excuse for many to go on being wrong. The nice thing about Christianity is that is based upon the right principles, whereas the liberal Socialists want to throw out sound law altogether.

There are several fallacies in what you have said hun. It may be that SOME people go to SOME churches out of fear of going to hell...but this is a small majority.
Teens are not the only ones who socialize with other teens. For instance, my parents are in their 70s and the church makes up a great deal of their social life.
If we made it illegal to push religion on anyone, then you could not have your say either.
Forgiveness and faith have nothing to do with what church you go to or the others there or why they go to church.
I am a Christian, a very, very strong one...yet I do not attend church (I belong to the United Methodist church, I just do not go)...I focus on my personal relationship with God and prefer not to have a church between me and thee. Going to hell is the farthest thing from my mind.
Thanks for letting me reply and I hope I did not seem too preachy.
GOD BLESS YOU

I'm a christian and I go to church without being forced. I believe that a church is a place to share religious views, prayer and testamonies, while learning the bible. I know that some people take it differently, so why don't you leave it between them and God? I am motivated to got to church not because of my friends or anything, but the importance of worshipping God. He created us to worship him and that is what I must do. True, the thought of going to hell scares me, but it does not say in the bible that if you go to church you will not go to hell. The way to heaven is to accept God, believe in him with all your heart and obey him. By going to church I am able to express my spiritual views, learn more about christ, and pray.
I am not saying that worshipping God at home is a bad thing, but by going to church you are inspired by the true worshippers there sharing the bible and praying. When your faith in God is low you are able to be encouraged by true fellow belivers. When I stay at home and do all this things instead of going to church sometimes I find my self sleeping, but at church the music of praise keeps me awake, the bright faces of true believers serving God is enough to keep me awake and alert.

I'm a Christian, and I agree with you, that God should not be worshiped out of fear of punishment, especially if he is to be viewed as our loving heavenly Father -- I mean, what kind of father would want his kids to live in constant fear that if they don't obey him exactly he is going to send them to an eternal pit of torture? Maybe it will encourage you that there are a growing number of Christians like myself who do not believe in this kind of God. In fact that's not even the God that Jesus taught us to worship. He taught us that our heavenly father loves us infinitely more than we love our children -- which means he would never send one of his kids to a place of eternal torture!! Then why, you ask, does the Bible talk about hell? Because the doctrine of hell was inserted into the Bible by evil men who wanted to use it as a sytstem of control and that is still going on today. The original copies of the Bible did not contain the concept of eternal punishment anywhere! There are a lot of good websites out there if you are interested in researching further. For example: http://www.tentmaker.org

Then the understanding you possess of christians are not complete. You see what the masses of people who attend churches does- seek forgiveness as you put it.
But in reality, that is a just a prayer, and it may not even be answered.
What truly matters as to why people go to church is because to offer their worship for God. It borders on faith and with faith alone you can be saved. *thats what Jesus is for*
So going to chuch is not to ask for forgiveness, it is to dedicate time and effort in worship. Many people nowadays go to church with a wrong mentality and expect the same returns, which sadly, they are just fooling themselves.

first of all, you don't trust in christianity, you trust in God, second of all, there may be people who go to church out of fear of hell, but why is that such a bad thing, do you want to go to hell, also, guess what, people accually go to church to worship God these days, is'nt that funny, no not really, 'cause God sent his son to die on the cross for us, so yer gonna bash christians, cause they choose to ask god to forgive thier sins, why, God has promised that he will forgive any sins, any sins. Have you even read a word out of the bible? christianity is not an organized religion, in fact it's not even a religion, we just follow god's word, and just because you don't get what god is telling you, does'nt mean that it's false translations. And if you don't want to believe what the bible says, I feel sorry for you, but hey, God bless you.
