heh. in answer to the first question, i mean sign language for communicating with deap people

As others have stated, no, it is not universally used. Signs are sometimes culturally significant. Therefore, a sign which makes perfect sense in one country, would not in another - for cultural reasons. I used to live in Japan and their signs were very different from ASL and their grammar structure mirrored the spoken language, which is VERY different from the grammar structures of ASL.

I found this on the net...

ASL is totally different from British Sign Language even though both countries speak English. Many people consider it a shame that there isn't a universal sign language.


So the answer is no. :(

No, it is called AMERICAN sign language for a reason - it is used in America. Each language has their own version of sign language.

unfortunatly not, like a spoken language it has dialects... even here in ireland theres ISL (Irish-Sign-Language) and NISL (Northern-Irish-Sign-Lanuage) as u can see the existance of NISL proves that not even British Sign Language is universal in its own country!

There Should be some form of universal sign language tho, maybe theres some similarites between ASL and BSL etc.

no, asl is only used in america, different countries have their own version of sign language

I believe that each country has its own signs although American and British are probably most common.

haha umm I don't really know what you're talking about but used in like messenger in stuff asl is used to ask age/sex/location
