my husband finished work last february and has since been on incapacity and disability benifits whilst i work full time

Since independent taxation was introduced in the late 1980s the personal allowance has been just that - an allowance personal to the individual - and this cannot be transferred.

The separate married couples allowance can be transferred but this only applies where one person was born before 6th April 1935. If this applies just write to the tax office and ask for it to be transferred.

All you can do is to make sure that any unearned income such as building society interest is in his name so that his personal allowance can be used against this.

as above.

even if the bank accounts are in joint names you can opt to have a % (standard 50/50 share normally) allocated at say 20/80 or whatever you want it to be but you have to fil forms out with the bank.
