I have a female pit. She is the sweetest dog ever!!! She is friends with the meter reader and the mail man! The only thing she could to you is lick you to death. Pitbulls are extremely loyal, loving companions. They are a dominant breed and need a strong owner. They can try to dominate you if you let them think they can get away with it. Early training is a must.Pitbulls need to be socialized from an early age! They love people no matter what, some may be animal aggressive. They are not a good watchdog because they love people too much and aren't big barkers.Over all I love the pitbull. Did you know that crocker spaniels bite more than pitbulls, And many dog attacks that were said to be pitbulls really weren't?

Their patience with their family, kids included, their stamina for play and work. I love hounds and bull terrier breeds. i love the look of them. I love the fact that little grooming is needed. They are easy to train, not aggressive at all (i know they have the potential to be nasty, but doesnt any breed). They look absolutely ferocious but they arent. They can be trained to do just about any thing from agility to carting(pulling a cart or sled). They are the softest dogs in the world with kids. They are also protective of their families. Honestly, if they are raised right and trained right, whats not to like, only their size if your a small dog lover.

I have a 3 y.o. female Blue Fawn A.P.B.T. She is the sweetest and mellowest dog I have had in my lifetime, with people that is!! :)) She is very agressive with other dogs and always dominates her male counterpart.

Pitbulls do get a bad rap; but then again many owners don't give enough attention to their dog or they breed them for fighting purposes. Pits are a social breed that needs lots of love and attention. However, they do need to be closely watched around children and small adults.

I love my "Nala" because she is a smart dog and very loyal to me.

BTW, she will never be fought... cos she's part of the family!!

I have two pitbulls that are the absolute sweetest dogs. My male is a bit possesive and protective to where not many people can come by me but he is great with other dogs and children. My female is so sweet and spoiled and thinks she is like a real person. Pits are loyal and protective and if htey are raised right and trained well they are the most perfect dogs

My parents raised pits the entire time i was living at home from the time i was small. They are extremely loyal, protective dogs.I dont reccomend them for just anybody though as the owner makes the dog, and alot of owners dont have sense enough to take care of themselves let alone a pit bull. If raised and treated properly these can be a wonderful pet for you and your family...if not...its certain disaster.

Pit bulls DO feel pain. However, part of their genetics by reacting to pain is to attack what's hurting them. The more they're hurt, the more aggressive they become to the attacker. This is with other dogs mind you. I have seen plenty of broken spirited pitties whose owners abused them and the dog would not fight back...and then...sometimes they do...and this is what often makes headlines.

My own pit bull died at the age of almost 13 after two unsuccessful surgeries for cancer. My youngest was 4 when we took her in...and 17 when Sierra died in her arms. She was loyal, protective, and extremely loving. She was smart and active and loved a good car ride, frisbee in the park, and to play with other dogs. She was good with the cats, the ferrets, the iguana ( http://prismwolf.fotopic.net/p406533.html ) and every other animal who passed through our doors as foster animals waiting for adoption.

Out of the many fosters I have cared for many have been pit bulls...full-blooded and mixes. A pure is sharing my home now with 4 other dogs inside my house, 4 ferrets, 3 cats, one iguana who free-roams occasionally, cockatiels who have flown around him, an African gray who has waddled past him across the floor, and other various animals who have come through here. He's my couch buddy and lap dog. I'll miss him when he finally finds his rightful home with another who cares for him *hopefully* as much as I do. They're a special breed deserving special care. Another just as loving is on a cable in my back yard...just as loving and deserving. I hate cables, but he had learned to climb the chain link of the kennel. We're in farm country...and some would just a soon shoot a pit on sight rather than find out about the dog.

Now past the mooshy stuff. They are a fighting breed. Tainted blood-lines make this more evident. Fighting has been bred into the genes and is why it takes someone willing to work with the dog and special enough to understand their mind set. As much as they have been designed to fight...that same diligence in genetics went into being loyal to people. Even those that engineered them for fighting other dogs also needed them to be completely loyal to the handlers. When you understand this, half the battle has been won. There are some awesome websites to go to for breed information from people that really care about them. The information is based of fact, personal experience and statistics in many areas. Excellent sources of information. There are a couple of others, but these are exceptional in their accuracy and amount of info provided.

i personally don't have a pit bull but i do live with one, my roommate has a pure bred female. they are one of the sweetest most gentle dogs i've ever encountered. they are great with other dogs, people, small children. very smart, very loyal. the thing is that they are very very strong so without proper training they can overpower you if you don't pay attention. also one of the reasons people train them for fighting other than strength is they basically feel no pain. but as far as a pet is concerned they are one of the best dogs you can get and the reputation they have is because stupid a**holes think its fun to train them to fight and all of those people should burn.

I use to have a pitbull. His name was Thug, and he was an awesome dog! They get such a bad rep, and I don't know why. If you raise them right, they can be the perfect pet. I love the muscle deffinition in their jaws, and legs. I just love them! My friend owns 2, and they are both very gentle. I just think it's all in the way they are raised!
