Hi! im 13 and i just never feel like eating and i DONT have an eating disorder. if i eat 500 caleries a day will it stop my groth and stop me from getting taller?? thanks

Yes under 500 calories a day is very unhealthy for a 13 year old girl. You are growing and your body is changing because of puberty. You body needs fuel to grow and change. Your body also needs fuel to do the basics like--go to school, study, spend time with friends, watch tv, and even spend time on the internet. You should be eating more than 500 calories a day. If you are worried about gaining fat or becoming unhealthy I would suggest that you try to eat foods that meet your nutritional needs yet are not unhealthy for you.

BTW--Everyone needs to have a little fat content in their diets. So don't completely cut out fat.

no that is very unhealthy, especially for ur age. u need at least 1500 calories a day. 100 is pushing it but not less, but u r at the age when u can eat more tha adults and not see it as much because u r growing. dont worry about counting the calories nbow because u r still too young. dont pay attention to those people saying its ok because its not. ull look like nicole richie and thats very grose and u be very unhealthy.

Have your parent call your doctor about this. I'm sure that given your activity and body weight/height, you need more than that. Our teens are so worried about weight. I know that the Communities are also concerned with our Nations rate of obesity. Please get in touch with your doctor!!!!!
Also, tell your friends, if they are concerned, start a healthy lifestyle. Eat from the food groups, exercise, drink water and ASK YOUR DOCTOR before trying to loose weight.

It is not healthy for anyone to eat less than 1000 to 1500 calories a day. Your height is determined by genetics and you won't be able to do anything about it.

A girl of 13 should consume 2000 calories. Anyone over the age of 8 should consume 2000 calories a day. Less then 1500 could prove very very unhealthy.
