That is a good question. My answer would be that once you begin wearing glasses you become dependent on them and that in turn makes your brain believe you need to wear them. I will grant that as one gets older that the eyes do begin to weaken, however I also believe that wearing glasses precipitates the weakening of the eyes.

Wearing spectacles does not make your eyes worse. They correct any blurred vision when you wear them . The blur is there because of the strength of the lens inside your eye and the length of your eyeball. Wearing glasses does not affect this either way.
Some people report their vision being worse when they remove their glasses, but the amount of blurred vision is mathematically related to your prescription. It is just as blurred before you put your glasses on.
The aging process causes the lens inside our eye to grow and become less pliable. This is why people need stronger reading glasses as they get older. It has nothing to do with the muscles of the eye becoming weak or lazy or becoming dependent on glasses.

It does neither. Your vision deterioration is independent of whether or not you get glasses. However, wearing other people's glasses can put extra strain on your eyes and somewhat hasten your vision's deterioration.
