The GABA receptor is a group of three ligand-gated ion channels responsible for mediating the effects of Gamma-AminoButyric Acid (GABA), the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain.

They consist of GABA A receptor, GABA B receptor and the GABA C receptor.
