The puppy is now 5 weeks old and either the mom got hit by a car or stranded her for other reasons... when i took her to the vet they said she was a lab mix but couldnt tell what other breed(s) she is. I was just wondering if there are any websites i could visit to find out more about breeds? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It may be impossible to discover the parentage of your pup. She may look like a breed but she may also just be a mix that looks like it. Without knowing the parents you could take a guess but thats all it will be, a guess. I owned one dog that i was told by the rescue group i got him from that he was a doberman/mastiff 3 month old pup and he did look like one, but as he got older it became more apparent that he was a kelpie(aussie working dog) cross some sort of hound. Until your pup is full grown you might not know.

Unfortunately unless you knew the mother and father or had papers on the dog you will never know. Even if vets or anyone else tell you what they think it is, it is still just a guess. As long as you are happy with the puppy it really doesn't matter. Raise the pup well, socialize and train her and you will have a treasured friend for the rest of her life.

You could ask people here if you were interested in what other people might think. Just start a new question asking what breed people think your puppy is, and include a link to a picture. See what answers come up the most.

i do no longer understand if i could get something from a "puppy farm" aka puppy mill. fairly some the time they are ill and the mothers and fathers are taken care of horribly. in case you do choose for to try this, i could insist on traveling the "farm" so which you are going to see that for your self the circumstances the dogs are bred in. a greater suited option would be sorting out respected breeders that have purely one style of dogs they breed. they are often fit and greater suited cared for. additionally enjoyed. domestic dogs from turbines, sorry, farms are purely money to the so called breeder, and mean no longer something to them. If the grownup dogs end having babies, they only kill them. unlawful or no longer, those places are undesirable!!!
