Good heavens no. Not even close.

You want to stop illegal immigration? Set up a no tolerance, no shortcuts policy. If you're here illegally, you don't get cuts in front of all the people who played by the rules. You go back to your country and then wait in line.

Had a kid here? Fine, the kid can stay if you like. You can't.

Don't like this? Go invade some other country. It takes stones to trespass on someone else's property and then claim a right to the benefits of rightful residents.

Employers who negligently (or deliberately) hire illegals should be assessed a tax equivalent to ten times the amount they "saved" through illegal labor, plus a fine.

Make the fine for hiring an illegal so big that no employer would think to hire,2nd offense would be a jail sentence.Deny them housing. And hispanics are caucasians, ethnically different but the same race as whites.Race card is used to guilt trip,in this case it's not valid. Besides having a closed border against Mexicans,it helps keep undesirables and terrorists out so no open border-ever.Rescind the anchor baby law, biggest headache for anti illegal fight. Thinking most who want open borders either hasn't thought it out or hasn't been impacted by illegals-yet.

i think its best to concentrate on the hundred or so issues that are of more importance and will have a direct bearing and impact on the lives of americans than worrying about immigration ... control the border more, sure why not, send nazi police squads to round people up ... hell no not in my country ... and the impact on americans from that ... just higher prices on many many things ... lower prices ... dream on .... people need to come to grips with their hate and look at it logically and what the actual cost and benefit to us is going to be ...

HELL, NO!!! The Republicans wan't a cheap source of labor, and to bust unions. The Democrats want potential liberal voters, plus they're terminally PC. The media plays up the "better life" sob story angle, while ignoring identity theft, Social Security fraud, gang activity, tax evasion, and the like.

No, I don't think they are. They really really really need to crack down on it. It's a major problem. I think the first step should be to immediately stop giving government assistance to illegal immigrants.

No, big business makes a lot of money from it. That's why Bush will attempt to prolong the debate as much as possible... maybe they'll be forced to do more eventually, but I hope it's something humane.
