I think that the soldier means that Market Garden was bigger than the airborne operations during the D-Day.
Market Garden was the biggest airborne operation in WW2(and in history), airborne troops from USA(101st & 82nd airborne divisions), Great Britain(1st airborne division), Poland(1st Independent Parachute Brigade).
This operation also had a groud force in the XXX corps.
During Market+Garden 34,876 men was delivered by parachutes, by gliders or airplanes(on prepared landing strips).
There is a beautiful movie about this operation: A bridge too far(1977)

No, Market Garden lasted just 9 days and involved far fewer men and material. The operation was initially successful with the capture of the Waal bridge at Nijmegen on 20 September, but was a failure overall as the final Rhine bridge at Arnhem was never taken, and the British 1st Airborne Division was destroyed in the ensuing combat. Germany had about 8000 KIA/WIA/MIA/POW while the combined totals for the Allies (English, Polish and American) were about 17,827. No comparison to The Battle of Normandy aka "Operation Overlord" (D-Day actually just means the day on which a combat attack or operation is to be initiated). Operation Overlord lasted from June 6th until August 25, when Paris was liberated. I don't know exact statistics on KIA/WAI/MIA/POW, but the Allies had approximately 45,000 dead and 173,000 missing or wounded, and the Germans had approximately 200,000 KIA/WIA/MIA with another 200,000 POWs.

Market Garden was the largest AIRBORNE operation in history. It was, how every, ultimately unsuccessful.
D-Day was the largest seaborne invasion in history involving almost three million troops from the US, Canada, and the UK along with various and sundry other countries for support. I hope this helps.

It was a bit bigger airborne operation, but the ground forces were much smaller. Those modifiers get you every time.
