All I have to research is his last name Villiard. The spelling is not known for sure, but he served as Commander for Landing Craft Infintry in WW II and would probably be in his 80's, he lives in Australia and has written books about ships. My father who served with him is desperate to find him. Please if any retired vets or people of Australia have heard of him let me know.

Sorry, I haven't heard of him but can offer some search suggestions.

You may have the name wrong, as the World War II Nominal roll available at http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/ doesn't include anyone by the name of Villiard. Perhaps you could try out other spellings or similar names on that site.

If he has had books published in Australia they will be at the National Library. You could search the catalogue to try and identify the books and confirm the name.

Service records for WW2 will be held by the national archives. http://www.naa.gov.au You may be able to find his records and that may give you some idea of which State he lived in or of other family member names to contact.

Once you have the correct name details it would make searching the phone book easier: http://www.whitepages.com.au

Alternatively, the Department of Veterans' Affairs, the RSL, or the services themselves may be able to help you if you approach them directly.
