Once you SEE them mating it will be about 10 days before she lays any eggs. Aftewr that she will begin sitting on them when her last egg is laid and the parents will take turns sitting on them day and night. About the 21st day you will have a baby hatch out and if all goes well an egg to hatch every days after that until they all hatch out. Usally there will be 1 or 2 eggs that never do hatch but thats ok. After the babies are hatched it will be about 4 weeks before they get all their feathers and about 8 weeks before the parents ween them. If you plan on hand feeding them they are best taken from the parents at 3 1/2 weeks old.

If you have a female laying eggs without another bird with her or her being mated with anyone, then it is best to leave her sit on the eggs until she gives up on them herself, if you take the eggs too soon from her she will keep laying and it could hurt her health to thew point of her death. Make sure females laying eggs without mates have more sleeping time from night fall to morning leaving them sleep in until 10 AM. Liited light for a female laying without a mate will stop her from wanting to have babies sometimes.

Hope this helps

Cockatiel Mating

You are asking all these questions about breeding but the thing is, there is no reason to. Bonded pairs "make out" all the time, it doesn't necessarily mean eggs and chicks! A pair will only mate for real if there is a spot to lay the eggs, and then you giving them the nest will encourage them to mate again and breed! No nest box needed, no problems here. If you want to breed them, you can do some research and breed them. You don't have to let them breed just because you caught them doing ... something. They are completely happy as they are and you are doing a fine job on caring for them, let's leave it at that.
