well, because it's a stilly cult.
AND, it is the cult that the christ-myth comes from and is built upon.
the christ myth isn't original, the original story of christ comes from Mithras.
Mithras predates christ by 900 years.

I have now read the Wikipedia description of Mithraism as is obvious you did also due to your similar wording. If you wanted to disclose all information you would have added the disclaimer at the top of the page "The neutrality of this section is disputed." Also you would have noted that there are no writings from Mithraism because they had no text. Also, the belief of Mithra which was started in 600BC is different than the belief in Mithras which was started in Rome in 100AD. The belief of Mithras came from soldiers who fought in wars in Persia and was brought back and developed into a totally different religion. It is more likely that Mithraism was influenced by Christianity than the other way around. Especially since the religion began 70 years after Christ's death and resurrection.

There are still Mithras worshippers out there. I just don't know how large it is or if any are here in the U.S. You can thank the Emperor Constitine for mixing christianity and Mithrasism.
Thanks for posting this, I know you are mocking Christians, but most are unaware that December 25 is very pagan and no matter how much they try and say they have taken it over for Christ, the bible is clear on how God feels keeping for doctrine the commandmants of men.

For whatever it is worth, most of those claims are demonstrably false (regardless of how often they are repeated). Here is a rebutal to Acharya S' book "The Christ Conspiracy" which argues just what you have here. If you find any problems with the argument, I would like to know them. Feel free to email me with your response.

Because then they would be pagan! Oh no!
They can, however, follow Jesus *cough mithras* if the people in church tell them to.

It appears to be a religion based upon Jewish prophecy, including the book of Isaiah, which was made ~750bc. Once the real thing occurred of what value was Mithraism?
